Most Users Cannot Access Inventor or AutoCAD

All,

Good afternoon all!  I'm looking for ideas on how to get some user's up and running.  One of the issues is that AutoCAD Mechanical is reporting a "License Time Out" error and Inventor's start up splash screen will close after a couple of seconds.  I've already worked through the steps in the Timeout article (post here) and that didn't work for the AutoCAD.  I'm struggling to come up with other ideas and welcome any recommendations.  Thanks in advance for any assistance, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

Hello @petestrycharske

Thank you for posting on Answer Day! 😊

I understand that you ran through the article & conducted the steps.

You mentioned it didn't work for AutoCAD, did it work for Inventor?

What version of AutoCAD & Inventor?

Please sign into your Autodesk Account, install all product updates & the latest Autodesk Licensing Service update. Then restart the computer and test the product.

If the issue persists try some other steps in "The License manager is not functioning or is improperly installed" with Autodesk 2020 software article if you are working with 2020 products.

Please "Accept Solution" if a reply or replies have helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.

Hey Pete,

Can you verify they have this update installed:

Autodesk Single Sign On Component 2020.1:
https://up.autodesk.com/2020/ADSSO/A97BF60C-1A84-42CF-865F-FADC3E0E8DBA/AdSSO.msi

I've seen this issue with Inventor a few times (and AutoCAD)

@Mark.Lancaster, we're doing just fine, thankfully!  We've got our kiddos home from school, 2nd & 5th grade, and so I'm helping out being the school headmaster sometimes 😄  How are you doing?

The service wasn't running at first, but we restarted it.  The error doesn't show up right away, but does after the Flexnet Finder dialog box closes (turns out their license file had expired as well, which we've updated).  Now the error continues to appear, even after the service is running.

Thanks for the idea, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

@mdavis22569, thanks for that idea!  I believe that we installed that on Monday, but I'll verify.  Thanks for the help, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Okay, I just wanted to close this one off.  Turns out there was a second issue that I wasn't aware of and was masked because of this user's particular issue.  We had to create a new license file, which had expired, so that fixed everyone else.  Unfortunately for this particular user, that didn't work, so we resorted to the dreaded clean uninstall / reinstall.  That seems to have done the trick, so thanks everybody for the suggestions.  (I had actually tried the steps you recommended, to no avail, but it's encouraging that I was on the right track.)  Praying that you and your families stay healthy and safe and have a most blessed night!

Peace,

Thanks, @natasha.l, I had tried those steps, but for some reason they didn't work in this situation.  First time I've had to resort to a reinstall for this situation and hopefully won't have that trend continue.  Thanks for the help and have a most blessed night!
