Maya won't start up at all

Maya won't start up at all

Hello,

I downloaded Maya 2017 today and installed it. But when I want to start Maya (click on the icon, execute the .exe) nothing happens. I looked in my Task Manager, and maya gets up to 20 mb ram usage and then just disappears. I don't even have an error massage.

I tried running in admin mode, booting up my pc in safe mode, reinstalling, restarting, deleting my temp files and document folders, nothing worked. I'm all out of ideas, and as I'm currently working on a project this is quite urgent and frustrating.

Has anyone any Ideas what may cause this?

Kind Regards,

Benni

I'm currently in the same situation as you, including the project deadline! I just reinstalled Maya 2017 after an unrelated problem and now it just pops up in the task manager for a moment when I launch it and then disappears without a trace. Sadly the link the bot gave wasn't terribly helpful here... anyone else have any ideas?

Welcome to the community...

I'm not a Maya user or expert but when graphic intense products like Maya doesn't start a lot of times points to a unsupported video card or an outdated video driver.   I would start there and make sure your have the latest video driver and don't rely on Windows telling you its up-to-date.  Go directly to the vendor's web site.

Another thing, what operating system do you have?  Is it Windows 10?  If so, is the version based on the Win 10 Anniversary version or do you subscribe to the Windows Insider Preview?  If this is the case, these versions are causing headaches in the Autodesk Community and impacting the operation of applications

It's Windows 10, yes. This is the first I've heard of an anniversary version of windows 10 so I don't think it's that, it's just an up to date version of Windows 10 Pro.

I'm sure my graphics card is supported as I've been running Maya on it for ages now, and I've got the latest drivers for just about everything I can think to install drivers for.

If it helps narrow it down, I've now reinstalled Maya 2016 and it's working fine. I installed it to see if I could get -something- running so I can finish what I'm working on.

I don't know if this is your problem but it worked for me:

Go to the task manager and if it isn't already on it go to more details, go to the services tab and at the bottom click "Open services"

Now Look for a service called "FlexNet Liscencing Service"

if it is enabled it's not the problem but if it's disabled then right click on it, choose properties and set the Startup type to Automatic,

click apply then click run

once it is loaded you can close all that and open maya, hopefully it should work!

This was the solution for me Thank you very much. I was getting rid of services that I didn't use or I didn't know so since the description doesn't say anything related with Autodesk on it, I stopped from starting with windows 10. That's why Maya didn't want to start ehehehe.

I had the same issue. Windows 10, Maya 2017.

I found out a way to fix the issue (at least right now it just worked for me). Give it a try :

Uninstall and reinstall manually your Microsoft Visual C++ Libraries.

Or use that :

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/visual_c_runtime_installer.html)

I installed v54 and right now to copy the link here, I see that v55 is out since the 7th of september 2017. So a few more updates I guess, but I won't do it again as Maya starts now fine as it is 😉

Hope it'll help[ you too. And even if the issue doesn't come from C++ libraries, it won't hurt to reinstall them clean as many games install their own and creates this kind of instability (often Marvelous Designer wouldn't start and since I did that, even Marvelous seems to work just fine)....

I tried everything to search for run as startup (i am french) and nothing in properties
I tried everything, windows + msconfig go to startup then i saw flexnet '' Stopped '' so i went to the task manager then right click start go in details then properties then nothing about run as startup.
Here some screen.

Oh and in the task manager nothing among the softwares that stars at startup appear/display in '' startup'' (just discord for exemple skype etc)

Was able to start FLEXnet Licensing Service and FLEXnet Licensing Service 64 (no automatic option available) but when tried to open Maya 2018, still got the Maya has stopped working popup while Maya was still trying to load and the FLEXnet Licensing Service stops but the 64 remains running.    Also tried on 2017 and 2016.  I have done a clean uninstall and reinstall for all these versions...(one at a time) ... won't get past "loading" in boot window on any version.   Maya was working fine then one day it stopped loading.  I fixed it once by just renaming the Prefs folder and it worked fine for a few days but all of a sudden... failed to open again that this time NOTHING works.  I've followed all suggestions.  My computer configuration hasn't changed, in fact I restored it to a time when Maya was working but it still doesn't open.  I believe
