Maya 2016 no longer starts

When I try to activate maya 2016 it says the activation was ok but than I get the following error:
"Establish internet connection to continue, The Autodesk license server cannot be found"
But I can confirm the internet connection is working, newer maya versions are working and the Autodesk Desktop application in logged in and working.
My guess is that with Maya 2020 out 2016 support is discontinued but unfortunately I need maya 2016 to finish a project. Is there any solution?

Make sure all of the updates are installed 

2016 needs to also have the updated TLS:

Question, are you on subscription ( and showing 2020 in your account)

If so, then you won't have access to 2016, you're only able to use 2020 and 3 prior versions 2019-2017.
