I have searched around and tried to find the answer to this but can not. Does running mayapy require that you have a license from Autodesk? It seems that only when the GUI is launched that maya contacts the licensing server. However if you just run mayapy no connection to the licensing server is made.
I am running some unittests with mayapy and wanted to make sure that mayapy not connecting to my licensing server is not an issue?
@pendean that was a link so you could read about mayapy, since you didn't know what it was. The copyright in the footer doesnt mean anything. mayapy has continued to ship with every release of maya as there standalone python interpreter including the latest 2022 version of maya in which they added python3 support to mayapy. I just need a definitive answer from someone at autodesk, or someone who can point me to the exact licensing requirements for mayapy. Because like I said at the top, running mayapy or even initializing maya standalone does not make any attempt to contact the licensing server like maya does. We are setting up automated testing in the cloud and want to do our due diligence to ensure we are abiding by autodesks licensing requirements for mayapy
This is under the "Subscription, Installation and Licensing" category. I don't care who answers, I just need a link to the official Autodesk licensing requirements for mayapy if anyone reading this knows if those even exist, otherwise, you don't have to comment.
