Inventor Licensing Error - 2nd attempt to install trial version

I attempted to install a trial version of Inventor 2017 a few days ago and realized my graphics card was barely sufficient. I assumed that's why the installation failed. I bought a new, better graphics card and tried again today. installation went successfully until I launched the software and signed up for an Autodesk account and a pop-up dialogue box appeared with a "Licensing Error". No code or other information except a link to "Contact Autodesk Support" (see attached image)

I feel certain the licensing error has to do with the fact that I attempted to install the software a few days ago. Reviewing these boards I found suggestions to turn off firewalls. I turned off my Windows Firewall AND ensured my Avast Firewall was off too. I cleared out all temp files except the ones that were running.  There were some other suggestions to remove files but my computer doesn't have the same file paths as the ones that were suggested. For example, my PC doesn't have a file path C:/Users/<username>/App Data, so I wasn't able to fulfill that suggestion.

Here's what I'm running:

Windows 7 Professional SP1

Intel Core i5-3330 CPU 3.00GHz

16GB RAM

64-bit

NVIDIA GeForce GTX750 Ti

Any help is appreciated - thanks

Hello @Anonymous

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your installation.  I would suggest two possible solutions:

1. Try making sure that the LGS.data file was properly created. Disregard that the article title involves AutoCAD:

AutoCAD 2017: The License manager is not functioning or is improperly installed

2. If that does not work try performing a manual uninstall of the product using these instructions:

Removing All Autodesk Software from a Windows System

Be careful to remember to delete the residual folders and files as mentioned in the middle of the article.

If the installer is not letting you perform the re-install because it believes the software is already installed most likely there are registry keys left over from a partial install. Please use the Microsoft install cleanup Fix-It tool at the below link

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

  1. Click the "Run now" Button in the Fix-it box
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Choose the option "Detect Problems and let me select fixes to apply"
  4. Select "Uninstalling"
  5. When the list of installed programs populates, select the one from the list you are unable to Re-install and then click next and yes

Thank you for taking part in our community forum! Please accept my solution if my post fully resolved your issue.
