Just going through the 2026 upgrades ( Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault & others )
Every single install fails & rolls back at around the 2 - 3 % mark
Although I am a local Admin, AV & UAC are off ( Autodesks's own 3 Golden rules ) the installer will ONLY work when I explicitly right-click and 'Run as Administrator'
Although ultimately not a massive issue, I thought it was worth saying something incase it can help others

The error is for VAULT PRO 2026, not Inventor. Fix your post's title please.
Then read this, it applies to all software with Install Error-5
The screenshot was just from the last one I installed, the error occurs with Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault, Nastran.......
From the above tech article
Causes:
No network, full download
Did not use web installer
Probably not a corrupt file, as the issue occurred with every single install
If you have all 3 failing ..
I'd look at the deployment ( if that's what you're using)
Permissions ..
I've installed AutoCAD / Inventor quite a bit since they came out (and no one using my links post) and I'm not seeing any issues reported by others ..
When I see more than 1 .. this why I go back to the PC/Permissions/set up etc ...
Hi there,
I just tried to install Inventor 2026 on Win10 x64:
Download the full package, place the Autodesk-Folder on top of drive C:\ and installed it by right click RUN AS ADMIN.
Additional software selected is only the content library (no DWG-Ture View or Electrical Catalog Browser)
Inventor setup is going up to 12-16% and then rolls back to 0% and stopps with the error-code 1073741515
Searching for this error-code I find some microsoft-issues with system files.... So I used this post to fix it:
After rebooting I tried to install Inventor again with the same results.
Would be good to get some help here.
I have received the following link from Autodesk support....
After checking the registry (without result) I downloaded and installed the ODIS software and then ran the Setup.exe --noupdate as admin and then it worked. I can't say whether it was the ODIS software or the --noupdate option.
Maybe this will help ....
