Good day,
I am battling with the 2018 Autdesk Inventor installation. I followed a previous post suggesting to not download from the web application, which I did. The download manager finally downloaded, and I successfully downloaded the 12.5GB file. Once it completed I was not at the PC, however it required a restart, which I did (I thought it had successfully installed) After the restart, nothing happened and I cant find Autocad.
I looked for C:Autodesk which has the 12.5GB file "Inventor_2018_English_Win_64bit_dlm" - If I run the setup, it brings up the download manager which has an option to "Install" - this opens an inventor screen which says "initialising" and then it comes up with an error " A software problem has caused Autodesk installer to close unexpectedly"
I have tried sending this error and have sent webforms, but no responce.
Can anyone assist me? I am not sure how to link install logs if that is needed?
Regards
Matt

Hi Michael,
This is my PC, and I had not seen the article so thanks for the link. I had previously wondered if the error was hardware related, but was doubtful that it would fail before, or on installation, as installation has no resource requirements relatively speaking. However the article does describe failure at this point due to hardware/software update issues. I had updated my PC prior to running these installs, however 4 updates failed, so I will attempt to rectify this and see if that helps.
Many thanks for all the assistance thus far to you, and palo and others.
I'll revert back.
Regards
Matt
I managed to find a workaround for the failed update, and after those worked, I had a whole bunch of new updates to install. However the software still fails. My graphics card is a GTX 1050 2GB - fully updated, however I see I have an 8GB RAM stick that has failed so only running 4GB at the moment. would this lack of memory cause the pre-install to fail?

No ... this should stop it.
However if you're having PC issues ... can you give the rest of the specs for the PC?
I know the video card is the GTX1050 ( not certified but will work)
Intel Core i5-2320 3.00GHz
At the moment 4GB RAM -getting another 8GB Friday)
Windows 7 -64bit home premium SP1 (updated)
500GB HDD -78gb free
nvidia GTX 1050 2GB
Motherboard Pegatron H61
Hello all,
I found the solution to my issue. It was not compatible with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit for some reason. I installed Windows 10 and the install was successful thereafter. Support had assisted me and tried to run a few fixes with Windows 7, but it was not successful. So they recommended upgrading to Win 10, and sorted.
Many thanks to the people who took the time to reply and assisted.

Windows 7 is approved for IV2018:

Could have been an OS issue blocking it / profile / conflict .... I still help people weekly on W7 ..
