I got revit 2016 (student) to install on windows 10

I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but...

To get the installation to work I manually downloaded visual C++ 2005 and 2008, since thats what the installation was getting hung up on.

Hello @Anonymous

Sometimes you can you try uninstalling ALL versions of Microsoft Visual C++ from your system and then re-install them from the links below. Note that 64 bit systems need both x64 and x86 versions.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18471

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2092

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523

Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64)/(x86)
Be careful to install both 32 and 64 bit versions.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Packages for (x64)/(x86)
Be careful to install both 32 and 64 bit versions.

If these installs all complete, try the Autodesk product install again. If any of them fail try downloading and installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2:
