Help installing Maya 2019 on Xubuntu 18.10

Okay, so I've been spending the last few hours trying to get Maya to run on my Ubuntu variant Xubuntu laptop. I've actually gotten passed the point of using the Wizard to install Maya, and if I type maya into the terminal, Maya attempts to run. However, when I do so the terminal outputs:

/usr/autodesk/maya2019/bin/maya.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre16.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And that's about as far as I've gotten. How might I fix this?

  • Linux® Red Hat® Enterprise 7.3 WS and 7.5 WS operating system
  • Linux® CentOS 7.3 and 7.5 operating system ¹

¹ Requires a multi-user license, not supported with single-user license.
