You are installing using install now or the web installer. This interface always has issues. Go into your Autodesk Account and change the install now option to browser diwnload. Should be a lunk under the install button to do this. Also make sure your browser pop up blocker is disabled

Sorry to hear..   It may be related to a corrupt netframe installation on your machine.   I would suggest using the netframe cleanup/repair tool from Microsoft tool and see if you can install after that.

Can you provide the installation log file? This file is located in your temp directory. C:\Users\<Username>\Appdata\Local\Temp

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome & thank you for posting. Make sure you have downloaded Maya 2018 completely.

1. The browser download for Maya 2018 is 3.7GB you will need three times the space, check the size of the installation media folder it should be 3.77 GB Autodesk_Maya_2018_EN_JP_ZH_Win_64bit_dlm.

2. Take a look at your Event Viewer to see if you have any system errors. You can try to use AIDA tool it will pull logs for you helping to indicate the cause of the issue.

3. Since you are running .NET 4.7 Framework you should check to make sure you have the latest update, Windows 7, 8.1, 10 Updates | Microsoft .NET Framework

On a Windows 10, you will have to uninstall the entire Windows update, that includes the 4.7 .NET Framework.

Reinstall .NET Framework 4.7 or the latest update (depending on the OS) through Windows Update Center or on the Microsoft website.

*Note: If you can no longer uninstall the update, several Microsoft customers have conducted a System Restore to have the update removed.

Before I reinstall my .net 4.7. I keep seeing a warning before the error happens, when looking in event viewer, and the warning is

Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0

which is followed by the error

Product: Autodesk Maya 2018 -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2711. The arguments are: ADSKInstallSharedComponentFeature, ,

Do you think that may be the cause of the error? If so, how do I prevent this from happening?

Hello @Anonymous,

Can you take a look at the details of the error in Event Viewer, check the time of the event etc.?

Also, try to run the AIDA tool it will pull these logs for you.

Hello @Anonymous,

You mentioned you tried conducting a uninstall, please make sure you conducted a clean install.

  1. Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the application & use the MSfixitTool to complete it
  2. Reboot the computer & log in as a Windows Administrator
  3. Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter
  4. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system
  5. Use the Browser Download Method in your Autodesk Account or via the Autodesk Virtual Agent (download all the parts)

Hello @Anonymous,

Are you in a restricted environment that would limit your access to Autodesk servers to activate & validate your license?

  1. Try a different network environment, see if you can access another WiFi location with less restrictions
  2. An internet connection is required to activate, every 30days you should be connected to the internet at some point (to verify your license & use the software) Adjust your proxy settings, to allow access during the install & first launch, also make sure you have an uninterrupted connection.
  3. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system

Thank you for posting. Smiley Happy
