Error 1603 for Revit 2020 and AutoCAD 2020

I'm unable to install Revit 2020 or AutoCAD 2020. I was able to get NavisWorks Manage to install this morning but nothing else. Here are my log files. I've tried a few of the solutions here

Any tricks to uploading log files? I get this neat message "The attachment's autodesk revit 2020 setup.log content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

You may want to follow the steps that I'm outlining in this posting https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/revit-2020-installation-failure-code-1603/m-p/...

I see the same thing as csmock here "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\" but I don't have the "Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service" to attempt to start.

Message 4 of 25

@Mark.Lancaster Any ideas if I'm missing that Service?

Message 5 of 25

@abblomquist

Do you see the uninstaller.exe in this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing

If so run it..  Then under the installation media run this C:\Autodesk\<Autodesk Product>\x86\AdskLicensing\AdskLicensing-installer.exe

Is the service there now?

@Mark.Lancaster anything for me to try? Otherwise, I'll call support today to see if they can assist. Thanks, Andy

Based on what I'm seeing you account doesn't allow the service to start or be installed.   Can you run the license service installer with full admin rights.  Disable UAC and Anti-Virus.

@Mark.Lancaster I uninstalled AV and turned UAC and still the same thing errors on the Service.

Perhaps you may want to try this on an admin command prompt

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/how-to-reset-autodesk-2020-licensing/m-p/87810...

And if you see the same results you may want to see this https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/how-to-reset-autodesk-2020-licensing/m-p/88029...

Or let us know if you see something else..

@Mark.Lancaster OK, so now it appears the issue is with that "Current" folder. When I attempt to open that it tells me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current is not accessible. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

Message 12 of 25

@abblomquist

Current folder?   Why are you going into the "CURRENT" folder?

Oh..   You were doing other stuff that I didn't ask for you to try.   I only pointed you to specific spots in that discussion for you to try.

@Mark.Lancaster sorry, I got to reading the article. If I go to that specific spot it appears to run fine but doesn't show up under Services

@Mark.Lancaster FYI it is still running today. Also, Autodesk support is bad. The "tech" I say that loosely as he has a script and doesn't deviate from it. Doesn't appear to have much knowledge with the product as that script appears to be as far as it goes. Have to wait 24-48 hours for it to escalate.

Can you post a screenshot from your C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing folder.

Here is a screenshot from my computer:

AdskLic2020-2.png

Just that you can paste easy to your cmd window:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\9.0.1.1462\helper\AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe" upgrade isUpgraded

Okay, and this is definitely a problem, because:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current\helper\AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe"

should also work.

What operating system do you have ?

Have you UAC enabled, was it enabled during the install of Navisworks 2020 ?

Has you user admin rights ?

regards

Markus
