Hi,
Yesterday I uninstalled max 2021 and had a fresh reinstall of the software on my laptop. The uninstall and new install process was made through the autodesk provided software (autodesk uninstall and autodesk desktop app). Although the new install of Max works fine, I noticed that when I try top open an older file I get the message below:
Then the file crashes and max shuts off. I checked for any available updates, hotfixes for max but I seems that my max install is up to date.
Any suggestions?
Many Thanks

Do you have other versions of Max currently installed along with 2021? If not, you may try uninstalling and then searching for anything "Autodesk" or "Max" or "3DS" or anything related to Max 2021 and delete it. Be careful if you do but you could search the "Registry" for keys that have those words and maybe even "chamfer" in them and delete them. Backup the Registry beforehand just in case. Then reinstall after a reboot.
That's usually my last-ditch-effort for things that I just can't solve and frequently it helps. I've used a program called 'Revo Uninstaller" now for about 5-years and when it uninstalls it searches the Registry and cleans it up. I know these kinds of programs can be dangerous and I've used several that in fact did cause massive problems. But Revo has never once caused a problem and it's actually saved my butt so many times I can't count. It might be worth buying it if time is more valuable than a little money.
Hopefully a moderator or someone else will weigh in with a simple fix, but if not, you might consider one more reinstall.

Just checking to see if your problem has been solved. Have you tried one more reinstall as @RobH2 suggested? Did you have any success?
