Hi
Admittedly, my PC needs reformatting, though it's not an ideal time what with having university work. I'll probably look at doing it during the Easter break. Though I do need 3ds Max for university work. For some weird reason, Max will no longer install. 😞
I uninstalled Maya after noticing it was installed on the wrong HDD, and I used Revo Uninstaller to do it. For some reason, it ended up deleting 3ds Max as well. I decided to then uninstall everything related to Max and Maya using Revo Uninstaller and start fresh with a new installation. However, no matter which I try to install, none of them complete and they fail. I tried using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall utility that I found somewhere in one of the troubleshooting articles, but whatever it seemingly 'fixed', they still won't install. 😞
I've attached the installation log I got after trying to install Max last time. No idea if any of that is of use. It also gave me an error code of 1603. So I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions of things I could try...?
Thanks
HI @t_smith5
So I'm showing this error from the log
Install Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2020 Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603
can you review the following 2 AKN articles:
I'd like to add:
Can you try doing the installation again,
Reinstalling the C++ first:

Make sure the Anti-Virus and Firewall are off
Let's also use this full offline installer:
It looks like a couple of those links to the downloader are identical... 😉

Sorry about that .. .all that needs to be down is the 1 needs to be changed to a 2 3 or 4
but here are the links for 2 and 3 that I missed
Thanks. I did consider that, but didn't think it would work. That there'd be some different code/ID.
Sadly, I've tried uninstalling all of the Visual C++ Redistributable packages and using the installer from the links you provided, but it still comes up with an error. 😞
can you review the 2 1603 AKN articles I gave you?
The first is for 3DS Max ... 2nd is Autodesk as a whole.
You have Admin rights on the PC too?
Yeah, I've been following those. And I have Administrator rights too.
I've been using the Microsoft Installation Troubleshooter (also known as "Microsoft Fix It"), I've emptied the %TEMP% folder, uninstalled all the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and installed them from the x86 and x64 folders, lowest to highest, I've used the Download Now installer (or the one you provided), there's enough disk space, I've gone to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem and changed NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation to 1 and restarted...
I've also noticed during the installation that the Substance component fails.
