One of our users attempted to install 2021 product versions including AutoCAD and Raster Design.  AutoCAD went fine but Raster Design throws a "Debug Assertion Failed!" error (attached).  This can be aborted or ignored several times and it appears to install.  When launching either this or AutoCAD however it attempts to install the components that failed during this error and we get the messages again.  If one clicks on "Retry" instead of abort or ignore, one receives an Application error regarding "the exception Breakpoint" (also attached).

 

The following steps have been attempted in the following order with no solution:

1. Uninstalling/reinstalling.

2. Uninstalled all C++ runtimes with an install date of the first attempt to install Raster.

3. sfc /scannow

4. Updated Quadro Graphics Driver to latest

5. cleared %temp%

6. Attempted to install .NET 4.8 (failed because it or a newer version is already installed)

7. "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" followed by "sfc /scannow"

8. Download the offline installer and manually run setup

 

We continue to see this error.  Does anyone have any idea why we might be seeing this and/or any other suggestions for solutions?

Hello @Anonymous, 

 

Thank you for providing all that detailed information on what you have done so far. 

 

What operating system are you installing this on (please provide the build)? 

Also, you mentioned uninstalling VC++ did you do a Clean Uninstall & reinstall them afterward? 

 

Please follow the steps in this article, to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries from an Autodesk software installation package or run the installer again. 

 

If you continue to have receive errors, try to use Event Viewer to look up the event & additional system information.

We actually did a full uninstall and reinstall of both Raster and AutoCAD and I think that did the trick.  I'll give you credit for the fix though because i'm sure a reinstall of the C++ runtimes would have done it (that's what reinstalling AutoCAD did I think).

So happy to hear this worked out, it was probably a previously installed version of VC++ conflicting with the installer packaged VC++. 😂
