So I installed the student version of Maya 2016 for my Laptop (Windows 10) via the install now option. No apparent issues, but for some reason when I try and open it I get the following error:

How do I solve this?

Accepted solution

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Community.

It could be related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package, check out the solution from this article: Error: "The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer." when using Autodesk products

Alternatively, try re-installing the software by re-downloading the installer from the Virtual Agent instead. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you,

Thanks a lot, it seems the C++ files were causing the issue.

You can go to the 3Ds max file location, (Windows (C) -- Programme Files-- autodesk-- 3ds max design) see either which dll files size is 0 KB, please list down the name of that file and ask your friends who is using the same version of 3ds max software, ask her/him to check his files which you lost and email to you those files. After you received , please save it into your your 3Ds max design file location (Windows (C) -- Programme Files-- autodesk-- 3ds max design) and replace the original files. Last, you try to open your 3dsmax file again, it should be sholved. Hope this solution may help you to solve that problem.

Hello.

I have been using Fusion 360 for almost a year now on a hobby licence its due to run out in November.

I have just tried to open the software and a bad image notification appeared as per the previous thread.

Do i have to uninstall and reinstall from the Virtual agent to solve the problem.

What will happen to all my project folders? will they be installed when i log back onto the new software?

Regards

Dave.

I would recommend that you perform a Fusion 360 clean uninstall and reinstall.  Fusion 360 is a cloud based software so its not on the Autodesk Virtual Agent.  Just download the free trial again and sign in to authorize your subscription.  No projects/files will be lost since they are stored in the cloud.
