This type of question should be asked over in the Autodesk Licensing and Installation forum and not here in the Inventor forum.  I will have the moderator relocate it.

However to answer your question...

As of right now technically you can't host your license manager in the cloud.  But at the same time others are doing it.  Its a grey area at this point because when the rules/guidelines were written years ago for the license manager, cloud services didn't exist.  Smiley Wink   In addition there's a risk that others can steal your license and etc being out in a public area.

In the end you have to configure ports to ensure the traffic gets through.

I believe you want to mean it, legally and not technically, because others
could/able do it.

Many companies are moving their local physical infrastructure to Cloud. And
many want the licenses be available at cloud and use it From Office/Home/Off
Site without worrying to borrow.

Ensured the necessary ports are opened. The most funniest aspect is the
server (installed on Windows 10) says, the license can be checked out and
client (Inventor 2017) is sitting on the same machine is unable to get the
license and says Error(0,0,0).

Legally..  It is against the terms/conditions.  But others are doing it and not sure if Autodesk is going to enforce the rule or not.  Like I said its a grey area.  In addition if the machine is hosting the license file and the application is on the same machine..  What information did you use?  Did you state the actual name of the machine or did you use localhost as the name?

I tried localhost, Machine Name, IP Address, with or without default port, the result is identical i.e. Error(0,0,0).

Is this the only machine experiencing the issue?  Is the license manager service running and issuing license?  What version is your license manager?  It has to be version 11.13.1.2 for the 2017 product line.  Can you attach the debug log (log file as indicated in config service tab of LMTOOLS) here?  ALthough it contains names and etc..  There's no impact to your infrastructure if you do share the log file.

Here's what I would recommend..

2017-12-01_9-38-03.jpg

In the folder location where your license manage is located.

Create 2 folders

License and Log.

For the log file make sure "EVERYONE" is giving fill access to that folder.

Move your license file from a User's document folder location and place in the license folder.  Access LMTOOLS/Config tab, stop the service and reconfig license and log location to the new folders you just created.

Also check this registry entry..

2017-12-01_9-47-26.jpg Does it exist?  What value is there?

Mark.Lancaster Thanks a Lot.

We went to the Basic, first checked the License File and found it is
Inventor 2017 and the client was Inventor Professional 2017. How foolish we
are? Sorry for troubling you.

Thanks Many for your constant and immediate advises.

Now it is certified that the Inventor License can be hosted on Azure Server and works seamlessly for the same country (R) same country clients.

Hello @lkumaresan,

Thank you for following up with the community on this.

Autodesk is not supporting any cloud services/platforms hosting network license they remain officially unsupported. Just be sure to review & follow the license compliance terms & you will be fine.
