Autodesk Data Management Server.

I provide IT support and one of our clients called saying that he was having an issue with with his Inventor 2016. From what I understand when I remoted in to his desktop he was attempting to make some sort of pipe run. When he would finish the content library login would pop up on his screen but since there is no library it would  not login. So after some searching I found what I believe is the correct download. (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-i...

After unpackging the download and attempting to install it  a message would pop up saying that I needed to install the Autodesk Data Management Server. But after a few hours of searching Google and Autodesk's website I have not found away to do this.

So my question is this: Am I using the correct content libraries, how do I install the Autodesk Data Management Server, or is their an easier way to go about this?.

the link you provided does not work

but that is most likely the Vault content which requires Vault Server & Vault Client to be installed

yes that link is for Vault content this requires vault server to be installed

you can get vault from the Inventor 2016 install files just double click on setup.exe and its under tools & ultities

but this is not something you can blast on the computer and its ready to go

you also have the option of using Desktop content which is also on the Inventor 2016 media

which i recommend if you don't have Vault in place already

When I open Software & utilities the screen shot below is what I see. I'm assuming that the desktop content is included in "Autodesk CAD Manager Tools". Is this correct and do I have to make any additional steps?

i thought Vault Basic came with Inventor

the desktop content is under install products instead of tools & utilities

Hello again sorry I was unable to get back with you friday but I installed the local desktop library but when he attempts to make the part it is still popping up with the vault login screen. Is there a setting we need to change or something else we need to do?

The user contacted me again today. Some parts are not being found in the content center. I redownloaded the install for the content center and made sure that it was point to the library but still no luck.

For the user's active Inventor project file, click the config content center and check to make sure all of the libraries are properly checked.

Editing of a project file is only permitted when there are no files opened in Inventor.

The exact person in charge is unknown to the public, however there is an application one can fill out if you are interested in securing some of the funds in the Spark/Ember fund.  The ink and more information can be found here:  www.yberryinfosystem.com
