AutoCad LT in VMWare?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am a school IT Director and we do not have computers in our HS - we use VMWare as a virtual environment to provide Windows Desktops. Can I run AutoCAD LT in a VMWare environment for my students?

Thanx for any feedback you can provide.

Hello @Anonymous,

Autodesk permits virtual environments be used to run software. I have attached an article that explains further, on the forums there are several members that have used VMware.

Autodesk Virtualization FAQ

Autodesk support for hosted operating system environments

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you for posting. Smiley Happy

To answer your question, yes, virtual machines are supported. However, you do not want to use VMWare. I would recommend Citrix XenApps or desktop. It uses the hardware, graphics and processing of the physical machine. Citrix has better performance.

Thank you for the feedback. I already have VMware, so the suggestion to abandon this and go to Citrix is not a solution.

Thanx for the article links and the suggestion to view other VM install questions (which obviously I did not do). We will insure we have the proper licensing and then give it a try since I do not have any other option given I am a 100% virtual environment now with a large investment in VM.

Note to Autodesk - please spend time with VmWare and work out the solutions to using it as a solution for your products. Thank you.

Hello Natasha!

The article links you shared are not working anymore. Do you know if things changed since then?

I have a question regarding VM for Acad LT from a client of ours: What are the sys requirements to run Acad LT 2021 on a VM hosted on Azure.

I'm looking for knowledge and experience, not links. I already have those.
