AutoCad is shutting down my computer.

Hello,

First of all I want to apologize for my English because I'm Polish and I know it is not perfect.

I'm writing to you because i have a huge problem. I have installed AutoCad 2017, AutoCad 2015, AutoCad 2014, DWG TrueView and Autodesk Fushion 360. All of those programs, after few minutes of working, are closing my computer. I did instal AutoCad2012 trial version (i've found somewhere) and I could work on it without unexpected risk of closing my computer.

Can you help me, please ?

System:

Windows 10 home

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

Ram: 32,00GB

64-bit operating system, x64 processor

Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX950M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 530

Hi,

look at the system events to get more info about crashes.

For me it sounds more like a hardware defect like system memory or graphiccard memory or driver.

You are right, in the system events there is a lot of mistakes conected with AutoCAD. All the same content (I translate it):

"The service cannot be started. Connect.Exceptions.IndexingServiceException: IndexingServiceErrCodes:129:UnexpectedDatabase
in Connect.MetaStore.MetaStorage.Initialize()
in Connect.IVault.IVault.OnStart(String[] args)
in System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state). "

But I'm not very keen on my laptop, so I dont know what does it mean. If u have some information how to solve it, I will be gratefull.

Hi,

do you have Vault installed? Because the list does not show me anything related to AutoCAD but Vault. Could it be that you are struggling with Vault?

Welcome to the community..

In addition to @Alfred.NESWADBA information..  Are you saying it literary shutting down/powers off your machine when using these applications? Or the applications are failing to work and close out?

Go to Window Services, locate the service in the image, and right mouse click on it and select properties.  When the properties come up, select startup as being disabled.   Now launch your applications and see if they work.  Also why did you install AutoCAD 2012?

Hi,

>> I do not have installed Vault. Should I install it ?

Then please show us the list of events you are seeing as errors in your system log which points to Autodesk products.

(and no, installing Vault does not make sense in that case)

Hi,

Yes, I'm saying it is literary shutting down my maschine after 1-2min of working these applications (AutoCad 2017, AutoCad 2015, AutoCad 2014, DWG TrueView and Autodesk Fushion 360).

What's interesting that AutoCAD 2012 is not shutting down my laptop. I have installed it (but only trial versian, cause i do not have a key as a student to 2012 version) because at my University classes we are using 2012 version.

I did what you wrote to me and it does not work. It is still shutting down the system.

Hi,

That sounds then like graphic card, graphic card memory or graphic card driver. As the graphic card is handled very different between old AutoCAD 2012 and newer version. Maybe AutoCAD 2012 even does not work with your main graphic card, instead only recognizing the Intel gc?

Update your graphic card driver and run system tests against graphic card and gc-memory.

Hi,

Please follow then @Mark.Lancaster's post with disabling the Autodesk Content Service, clear the events log, afterwards restart your workstation and try all again.

I've never heard of any Autodesk products just shutting down a machine..  Perhaps blue screening but not just powering off a machine or restarting it.   The information you have provided is related to that service.  Its is disabled it shouldn't be working at all after a reboot.  Can you check its properties again.

Update:  Also can you confirm its actually shutting down your machine, meaning its powering off and you have to restart the machine.  Because if that's the case your event log would be different it it had to restart the machine.

Now, after 15min of working AutoCAD2017 and Autodesk Fushion 306 are not shutting down my computer.

I think that after changing properties I should have restarted the system. I hope it have solved my problem.

Thank you so much guys for your help and involvement. I'm very grateful. Have a nice day. 🙂

Hello @Anonymous,

If you are having an issue with the product and it is shutting down every time you start it, it maybe that AutoCAD 2012 is on an unsupported Windows 10 system and you should conduct a Clean Uninstall of AutoCAD 2012 product & reboot the computer. Also, this issue may have nothing to do with AutoCAD product if you could describe exactly what you are doing before it crashes and what crashes, it would be helpful as well.

Keep us posted. Smiley Happy
