AutoCad Free Trial 2016 Setup Initialization failed

During installation of free trial version, I can not get around the error seen in attached. ?Error code 8124?

Things I have tried include the following. These were all done at the same time several times and in different combinations:

(1) Delete contents of TEMP

(2) Turn off firewall

(3) Turn off antivirus

(4) Turn off UAC

(5) Create a new account.

(6) Always run everything as administrator.

(7) Scan forum for anyone else who has this problem. Could not find anyone else with this error.

(8) Tried download in IE instead of chrome.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am ready to buy this product but I'd also like to know that it will actually install on my computer (Win7 SP1 64bit ) before throwing down the cash.

Hello cburgner and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you're receiving Error 8 during installation. This is typically due to he download manager getting disconnected. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Error 8 or Error 9 during install

Hello bot,

Unfortunatley I don't think this is an error 8-9 problem. However, when a bot tells me to do something, I do it. So, I tried installing using the virtual assisant to get around any connection problems. I got a new error which is the most excitement I've had in weeks. See below attached.

Update.  Tried another approach to see if .net install was bad/wrong.

(10)Uninstalled .net 5 and installed .net 4.5 instead since it was the recommended version for AutoCad. requirements found here

Update with Solution:

(11) Found this on the autocad forum for "FirstRunThreadId ####"

1- Create folder C:\Temp
2- Navigate to Control Panel/User Accounts/Change My Environment Variables
3- Change the value of both TMP and TEMP to C:\Temp (Default is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp)

Whatever black magic this uses is not something I want to think about. It solved my problem. I hope that if someone finds my thread as they painfully follow the advice of AutoCad bots, they will save themselves time and go find the FirstRunThreadId ####
