Is there any way to know if the 2018.2 update has installed successfully? When I run the installer it launches and lets me say to start installation but it never gives me a prompt that the installation has completed successfully.
The reason I don't think it has installed correctly is I ran the 2018.1 update as well which was supposed to fix the issue with Max crashing while using 2 modifier panes (which I would really like to be able to do) and I still crash. When I have a crash and submit a bug report I'm sent to the same page that tells me to install the 2018.1 update again.
I also tried using the Autodesk Desktop app, which is a horrible user experience. It always loads the tour page every time I launch it, which often locks up the program. I did see Update 2018.2 on there, but when I clicked to install it, the program crashed. I tried it again to day but now it's telling me I don't have subscription, which I definitely do and my only option is to download a trial of 3DS Max, which I already have , or return to the tour...Which I have already seen 10 times.
when you submitted the error with your email did it give you a reason why max crashes, if not did you write down the crash reporting error numbers and letters if you did then why an autodesk empolyees see it on here they can look the problem up and give you a answer to your question.
so next time you reply type that error (CRE) code on here and someone who works at autodesk will reply to you, when they have the time,
so if you look in your event viewer logs sometimes it will give you a reason for crashing it you search online for that error then you will find an answer
Yes. As I said, the reason I'm being given is due to working in a multi-column Command Panel. Which the Update was supposed to fix. I just want to figure out if the update has actually been applied. Because I keep being told this is the solution every time I crash.
Here is the page I am sent to:
"Issue:
After working in a multi-column Command Panel in sub-object mode with various geometry editing modes or modifiers (Editable Poly, Edit Poly etc.), 3ds Max may quit unexpectedly.
Solution:
Log into your Autodesk Account, go to 3ds Max > Downloads > Updates and Add-ons, then download and install Update 1 for 3ds Max 2018. This will fix the error."
I have attempted to do this solution but the installation doesn't give me a pop up saying it's completed successfully and I am still crashing for the same reason, according to the response I get from Autodesk.
When I check About 3ds Max it says 2018Update 20.0 - 20.2.0.2345 I guess that means the Update was applied? I don't know. If so, the update didn't fix the crash. Or Autodesk's Automated System is reading my crash wrong and sending me to the wrong solution.
