Unable to install ANY Revit product

Hi

I'm having major problems installing any Revit product onto my laptop.  I've spent hours trying to sort this out and its really frustrating!

Bit of background - I'm using a DellXPS15 laptop with Windows 10.  The laptop is only about 6 months old.

When I first got the laptop, I installed Revit and AutoCAD 2016 without any problems.  A few weeks ago I installed Revit 2017, which needed a couple of attempts for it to install properly, but it was working fine.  Yesterday I tried to install Revit 2018 but I started getting the various error messages described below, and after HOURS of trying, I thought it was an issue with my laptop so I decided to do a full reset.

Once it loaded back up, I installed my Kaspersky anti-virus and then tried to install any version of Revit, however I'm still getting same error messages but now for all versions.  So I'm unable to install Revit 2016, 2017 or 2018 without getting the following errors for each installation method:

Install Now:  "Installer encountered error and could not start the NetSession Client".

Download Now: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem a problem with this package. The error code is 2894" and then " Product failed to install. Please contact your Autodesk support account manager".

Browser Download AND download through Virtual Agent: Once all of the files download and I run the Part 1 installation, I get an error saying "FAILED TO LOAD RICHED32.DLL (193!)" and then the first installation window appears, but when I click install it just disappears!

So I've tried basically all of the download options and nothing works - Before I did the laptop reset I thought it was an error with the Riched32 and Riched20 DLL files, so I replaced those but it made no difference.  I've also made sure my anti virus was disabled during all installation attempts.

If anyone can help it would be really appreciated as I'm unable to work on any projects at the moment!

Thanks

Kevin

Hello K_Kennedy and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you're seeing the "Some Products Failed to Install" error. This error can be caused if prerequisites have already been installed on the target machine. Incompatible versions, or even the same version, can cause this problem. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Error: "Install complete. Some Products Failed to Install"

After uninstalling the necessary files, please fully shut down your computer and reboot it for the changes to take effect.

Hi

Unfortunately that didn't work - I wasn't able to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2013.  I get the following error message relating to Riched20.dll, it says its either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Error Status 0xc0000020.

Thanks

Kevin

This DLL appears to be related to your Windows Operating System.   At this point you may have to rebuild your OS.   Have you scanned for malware and virus?   In the end this is not an Autodesk related issue.

RICHED32.DLL is an old dll from back in the WinXP days, had a lot to do with the old Outlook Express email client. Are you by chance running some old software in WinXP mode on this PC?

Test:
Log in as an all new and totally different user on your PC with full admin rights.
Turn off " Kaspersky" and anything else running in the background.
Use the browser download method and get new downloads.
Use WIndows Explorer to open the log-in temp folder. leave it open.
right-click on the part1 file and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

Does it still fail? and with the same error?
