Two Maya subscriptions same network - One cannot get past firewall monthly check

So I have been dealing with my IT department for several months.  Every month the subscription test cannot connect to internet.  We have to take my machine off the network and register it using a guest network via a wireless connection.  I have another machine sitting only a few feet away and it can see the internet.  The other machine has NO ISSUES other than we cannot use the Desktop app to upgrade.

It is not a firewall issue.  As the other machine can see the internet.  My machine is same exact Dell model, used to be fine, but I did reformat it recently and that si when problems began (New build of Windows 7).  My IT team cannot seem to find the difference.  They tell me they have added all fo the exceptions listed in the firewall (As such the other machine has no issues.)

Can anyone suggest why two machine on same network - same essential setup (corporate image) AND ONE CANNOT activate or check registration?

Maya version?  I assume you have a single user subscription for both of your license?  Are you seeing any messages?

No messages.

He is using 2017, I am using 2018.  When I had 2017, I had no issues other than the First Activation, but my machine became VERY slow so I reformatted and installed 2018.  Since then - every month I have to take the machine to the IT offices.

I tried installing 2017, and now the registration will not connect.  perhaps if I activate it I will cease to have the problems similar to my coworker.  However, I do not want to be limited to 2017 forever.  We pay for current versions.  I have been a MAYA user since 1997 (PA/Wavefront before that) on SGI's.

What type of license do you have?  Perpetual license on an active maintenance plan or single user subscription?

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting.

The software needs Administrator rights during installation & at first launch after installation.

Please verify the following on the machine that is having the issue:

  1. Sign in as Administrator or Create a New User Account (Full Control user) Please review, Local administrator rights and running Autodesk software

  2. Adjust Lan Settings & Proxy Settings, or try a different network location (you tried a different network if it worked it could be network related)
  3. Sign-out of all Autodesk related products. Please try the following, How to sign out of the Autodesk Desktop app  & be sure to sign-in with the proper Autodesk ID & Password
  4. Whitelist the sites listed in these articles:

What URLs/Protocols Are Accessible for Subscription Licenses

Single-user Access (formerly Desktop Subscription): Full Site detail for Proxy Whitelisting

       Subscription Licensing – Proxy whitelist

Natasha,
Your solution is impractical.  I work in a corporate setting.  I am an animator, not a systems administrator..  I have brought my IT team in and we have reviewed the notes, however,  it does not seem to be resolved MONTHS LATER.  AND, I can neither create a new account.  My IT team did sign in as super user, however, this does not help my account, and once registered - I have to wait 30 days to know if it worked.
Our network is VERY secure.  The internal IT team has provided me with a Proxy settings per these emails, but we have not been successful.  Furthermore, Changing the proxy removes me from the network. And I guarantee this is not the problem because,  As stated earlier, I have a machine sitting one room over that CAN register and is working fine, I cannot. I do not think it is my network, Both Maya 2017  AND 2018 are having this issue.  They are BOTH fresh installs, uninstalling and installing them again seems to have no effect.  I believe it is a WINDOWS setting of some sort, but I am not a sys admin, I cannot figure this out.  I reformatted my machine in December - which is when the issues began, and is also the difference between my and my coworker.
IT is tired of me calling them.

The Autodesk Desktop App can log into and see my account.  My name is at the top, once started, Maya  can also see my Autodesk account - my name is at the top of Maya and I can click and manage my account on the Autodesk website.
I want to point out that my current workaround is to disconnect my ethernet, I then use a wireless network card and tether to my Phones Hotspot to successfully license each month.
Now, I have been a Maya user since 1997 (Wavefront and Power Animator prior to that).  I remember times when I could easily call a 1800 number and a Maya tech would log into my machine and fix/find  the issue quickly.  I have been a good customer for many years.  I am positive that a well trained tech could fix my problem fast, perhaps having seen this issue before, knowing what file might be corrupted, mis configured, or even a quick work around.  How does a small studio go about qualifying for good customer support without leasing 1000 licenses?

Hello @Vince.Sidwell

So sorry for the frustration, I understand this is an issue that requires some troubleshooting to resolve but this is the fastest way. You could be correct, it may not have to do with your firewall or proxy as a whole but did you try to have IT set exceptions to the sites below.

You can try to Use Fiddler  it will locate the web sessions being processed on the system, to locate a network traffic issue preventing access to the sites needed to validate your software.

Whitelist the sites listed in these articles:

What URLs/Protocols Are Accessible for Subscription Licenses

Single-user Access (formerly Desktop Subscription): Full Site detail for Proxy Whitelisting

       Subscription Licensing – Proxy whitelist
