Slow performance of Autodesk Desktop Connector when downloading

Hi

I use Autodesk Revit on a daily basis for a company in the construction industry so the clients of my employers have all their files uploaded to BIM360 of course.  So my problem is it take forever for Autodesk Docs to download those

files of the clients.  I have Autodesk Desktop Connector running version 14.13.0.1525 and I have TRIED downloading the September update BUT when you download the file from the web browser and install it just reverts to version 14.13.0.1525.  So this happens across all versions of Revit I use 2016-2021, a normal download of say 700mb in a regular download on web browser would take less that 5mins BUT as soon as you try to download a file from client that is 700mb an architectural file its takes FOREVER via Autodesk Docs.  Is there anyway to speed this up.

Thanks

Hello @markRAGV2

The Autodesk Desktop Connector's slow syncing performance can be related to network latency, service interruptions or large file size/number of referenced files.

To try and resolve these issues follow the steps outlined below:

  • For latency issues, clear cache and cookies via "Internet Options" in Windows. Alternatively, check the overall speed of the network and run a latency check via the command prompt to the autodesk.com domain. If available reach out to your IT Administrator for assistance adjusting network security settings.
  • For a possible service issue, see the Autodesk Health Dashboard to check the status of the service.
  • For size issues, reduce the overall file size (if Revit, use the audit and purge tools), break the model up into smaller models, or upload the referenced files a few at a time.

Please "Accept Solution" if a reply or replies have helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.

Hi Natasha,  thanks for your suggestion.  I pinged autodesk.com command prompt administrator privileges, I get Request timed out response, but when I use www.autodesk.com it has ms displayed in how long it returned.

Now I pressed on with further investigation into pinging and many as to ping 127.0.0.1 and it returns General Failure.  As the company i work for is comprised of 4 people that includes the boss their is no IT Administrator, also the PC i use for at home work its my own so i am using the internet of the house owner via wifi, so no luck there.

As for Autodesk Health Dashboard would I be looking for BIM 360 not Autodesk Desktop Connector/Autodesk Docs?

For purge unused objects I would I guess wait forever to download the model from Autodesk docs/Desktop Connector/BIM 360 and then once in goto

 (Purge Unused).

In order for future updates via the clients to be seperated into small chunks, as the my employer business deals with mechanical/fire/hydraulic clients who update their respective revit models which in turn we download via Autodesk Docs, where we work with electrical services which we upload.  The model that those clients uploads and we download would be cancelled out by purging as you first need to download from Autodesk Docs the larger file before you even get a chance to purge within revit?  Now I can't request for the clients to make them smaller as my boss and other work collegues seem to have no real problem via Autodesk Docs in receiving the files from clients uploaded to central model via BIM 360.

So thanks for ongoing help

Mark
