Setup Initialization stuck in Initializing

Maya 2018 Student Version for Windows 64-bit in English is stuck in Initialization. I let it run during the nicht and it's still there. I would also like to know if there is any progress, but the only feedback I have is the Initialization tab at the bottom.

There's a couple of ways to properly download and install your Autodesk product to your machine.  Please review this article and the solution it provides.

If the installation does fail using the preferred methods, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.

Posting info: Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you.  Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN".  Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file.  If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

Hello @Anonymous,

Did you just install Maya? What method of download did you use?

Please try the preferred download method called the Browser Download & follow my Post with steps on how to.

Below are some of the common solutions for stuck at initializing issues:

  1. Sign in as Administrator, Create a New User Account (Full Control user permissions) or verify permissions
  2. Check the Operating System needed & the required updates by reviewing the system requirements for the software & Certified Graphics Card Drivers
  3. Make sure you have an updated graphics card driver by checking the manufacturer's website (Assign the correct Graphics Card) or try using DirectX instead of OpenGL viewports(Windows> Preferences) & set the display type to  DirectX.
  4. Temporarily disable your Antivirus software & Firewall
  5. Temporarily disable UAC on  Windows 7 or Windows 10
  6. How to reset to defaults
  7. Update your product with the latest service pack or Hotfixes by visiting the Autodesk website or account
  8. Try to re-create the event/pull up the error again & locate the event error using Event Viewer
then search for it online this will help you determine the root cause.

Let us know how it goes.

Would you please share the  installation log here. Also, can you please check whether there are any message boxes that appears in the task bar while the installer is being initialized?

So, having this problem for a Network Installation that is working on other computers, just not mine.

I have done the following:

1. Disabled Anti-Virus

2. Uninstalled Anti-Virus

3. Uninstalled Visual C++/Studio and reinstalled from installation directory of AutoCAD: Electrical 2019

4. Uninstalled AutoCAD: Electrical 2015

5. Check for update of Video Card. Video Card is up-to-date.

6. Updated Windows.

This may not be the exact order; but after each step I have attempted to install AutoCAD: Electrical 2019

The problem is I never get to the point of a "Log" file being generated as it just stays in "Setup is Initializing....". I have in the past let this run all night and I come in and still it being on the "Setup is Initializing...." screen. I terminate the session through the "Task manager" as it is the only option that I have.

What seems to happen is it gets to the 80% or 90% mark and then backtracks to the 50% mark. It starts out getting to that mark quickly and then every time after that it gets longer and longer.

I am running Window 10 Pro 64-Bit.

What method are you using to install your product?  Install now or something else?

100GBs free, so I would hope that is enough.

We are using a Network Install, which has worked on every other machine that has used it; but I understand why you need to ask.

What is "Now" or is that a typo?

Network install means you're using a deployment then?

Network install too me could also mean that you have a network license type..   So I didn't want to assume..   Smiley LOL

Autodesk offers a different ways to install..   A lot of times people use the Install Now method which downloads and installs at the same time and can cause the initial screen to stall like what you're seeing.   That's why I was asking..  When it comes to installation there's are numerous variables and i can only go by the words you provide for troubleshooting.

IN the end I would modify the deployment and take off silent mode to see if its hanging on something that when you run the silent deployment you're not going to see.

I downloaded the Revit program for students, but every time I attempt to initialize the program it last a couple of minutes and it then just disappears without even loading.

Hi @enyra.zermeno1202,

Are you using the browser download?

If so, make sure you have the installer's parts.

I would recommend reading this article which has a whole host of fixes for the self-extract process: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Self-E....
