Howdy all....
you may have seen an article i wrote before for the deployment of Civil 3D and other autodesk software via GPO BUT!!!!!!
Here we go again. We have created and developed our 2018 product network deployments.
Deployed the applications to our target client machines via startup scripts through GPO.
All good BUT then Autodesk go and release a service pack or hotfix that we need to deploy to our 100 machines .
Our users do not have admin right to install the patches \ updates themselves.
We have the updates downloaded and ready to go but how, oh how, are we supposed to deploy them without having to visit every machine.
Now I know I can deploy some via GPO scripts like we have done in the past but that is a major pain too....
When will AutoDesk come up with an effective and easy to implement method of update deployment. Microsoft's WSUS server does a similar job for Windows - why can't Autodesk develop something similar. This topic comes up again and again - c'mon autodesk, we need an effective way to distribute service packs, updates, enhancements and hotfixes without end user interaction and without requiring admin rights on the local client machine....
In the meantime while waiting for a reply from autodesk, and I wont hold my breath, if anyone has a effective method of deployment and is prepared to share it I would be very grateful.
