Replacing software that has no registration with new licensed software

I am trying to replace a software that was installed by a former employee that I now cannot verify or register, and he is in another state.  It will be turned off by Autodesk in couple days. I really need to maintain my office and workflow.  I am hoping to replace my Autocad 2014 with Aotocadd LT 2017. Questions:

1) Is this an easy transition for installation? Do all my projects merely open up in the new software with no special concerns?

2) Is there any chance that if the installation is stalled or delayed that I will lose anything when I am "turned off" the following day?    ...Thanks, Jim

Actually files created in Acad LT 2014 can still be opened, modify and etc using the 2017 version without any issues or migrations.

No files or designs that you created in any version of AutoCAD or LT will be lost if your software doesn't work.  However I'm confused by question #2..  For the 2014 version this would've been a perpetual license.  So what's going to be turned off tomorrow by Autodesk?  Are you talking about the maintenance plan you have with the 2014 version.  Please clarify you requirements per question #2.

My situation is that I had a copy of the 2014 software, and I allowed my employee to gift it to me without taking proper precaution.  I was not "connected" to Autodesk.  However, a few days ago, a message popped up asking me to provide registration & serial key no.s and I could not provide.  The message said I had 7 days left.  Thus, I'm trying to become fully registered with new bona fide membership and I see that it is now on an annual basis, something I had not experienced before. I want to make things right, but not lose business days.  The installation of the new product is only one day before "expiration" of the older non-licensed product.  ......Any help is most appreciated. Thanks, Jim

"I allowed my employee to gift it to me without taking proper precaution"  Not sure what you mean by this..  If the product was purchased under your company name and the employee who used it, is no longer there..  There's no need "to gift it"..  It belongs to the company.  Or are you saying this product was purchased by someone else and then it was given to you?

The 2014 version would be based on a perpetual license and would not expire.  Are you sure you're not running in trial mode (30 days).

When did you purchase this 2014 version?

Hello @Anonymous,

This forum board is specifically for Installation & Licensing issues, I have provided the proper place to locate the information you are looking for.

I hope you resolved the issue regarding your expired license of AutoCAD 2014 and have successfully purchased an annual subscription. You receive an expired license message when you run a trial or subscription. You can install your AutoCAD LT 2017 software with clic licencing it (does not require serial# & product key) or subscription sign in (serial# & product key needed).
