Redundant servers fail to established connection after applying windows update

In a Redundant setup when we have 3 servers (Triad); After applying the Windows server 2008 R2 updates to mitigate the SMB vulnerability, we were facing the issue of any third server failing to establish connection with the other two which are already on redundant mode with established connection.

This is observed in the 'Debug log' that connection is failed after multiple tries (Un established connections) all three will stop working with an error below "17:51:51 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to primary redundant server SRV-001
17:51:56 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to secondary redundant server SRV-002
17:52:21 (lmgrd) Disconnected from primary redundant server RV-001
17:52:26 (lmgrd) Disconnected from secondary redundant server SRV-002"

and finally both SRV-001 and SRV-002 will fail with below error line.

"(lmgrd) Warning: Maximum connections to the server  has reached. Please disconnect some clients from the server"

Can any one help on how to address this ??

Warm regards

Ashish

Hello @software_admin,

Redundant servers can be a difficult set-up. Make sure Autodesk supports the version of the software on a Windows 2008 Server R2, Autodesk has stopped support for newer versions after Microsoft dropped mainstream support it in 2014 (Microsofts Lifecycle support page here).

I have included an article here for you to review & some items for you to check off. Take a look, About the Redundant License Server Model

All 3 servers need to have:

  1. The same hardware
  2. The same OS (best windows, linux, mac)
  3. The same subnet
  4.  the same version of LMtools 11.13.1.2

*Also, check the network communication of each individual server.

Thanks for posting. Smiley Happy

All the three server have same configuration same hardware, the same OS (Windows server 2008 R2),same subnet  and the same version of LMtools 11.13.1.2, we have also checked the network communication of each individual server and everything is fine.

below are the error log in each server.

 Log In server 1:

11:27:36 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to secondary redundant server SRV-002
11:27:59 (lmgrd) Disconnected from secondary redundant server SRV-002

 Log In server 2:

11:30:16 (lmgrd) Disconnected from primary redundant server SRV-001
11:30:40 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to primary redundant server SRV-001

 Log In server 3:

11:30:56 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to secondary redundant server SRV-002
11:31:26 (lmgrd) Disconnected from secondary redundant server SRV-002
