Operator Error, I broke my Maya and i cant install a new one.

Hey all,

I have an embarassing question about reinstaliation.
Let me tell you what im pretty sure i did wrong first.

I was working on a personal project in another software called unity, and i corrupted one of my files from that and lost a few days of work. So the next day i decided to cleanout most of the files and programs i dont use from my computer. I went into the 'add/remove program' section of my computer then started deleting anything i didnt recognize as something i use in my day to day life.

I think in this process i may have messed up autodesk.
So later when im trying to run mayas renderer i realize that i cant render in mental ray. I look for solutions to recover mental ray and i realize that nothing i try works. so i just try to uninstalll maya and reinstall it entirely. This is the problem, i cant reinstall maya. It keeps throwing up errors like 'Some files could not be installed' and when i restart the computer like it asks me to and i try to install maya again it tells me that there is a 'connection error'. So next i go into both of my program files folders and i delete everything autodesk, then i do the same in my C: drive, then i do the same in my 'add/remove programs' tool. (I think not using the add remove programs first is what messed me up)

It seems like all of my autodesk software is gone from my computer but i still cant install without said errors. ive tried rebooting about a billion times. Ive tried taking the instalation file you get from the site and extracking it myself and running the setup.exe myself and the InstalMayNow.exe myself and i still get the same result. I would really rather not use my other computers for this for verious reasons but thats what ill have to do if i cant get this working.

I'm hoping someone here has accidently messed maya up in the same way and can give me some guidance on fixing it.

Please let me know what you think could help, im happy to provide more information, screenshots, and try whatever you tell me to, i am kinda slow though so a more specific answer will be more helpful than a general one. Thank you for reading!

Thanks for taking the time to write out that article it really helps!

..Kind of, in my case at least.

I downloaded both parts 1 and 2 from the Virtual Agent, once installed i double clicked on the first one, and it downloaded the application manager, the installer opened and i followed the process, put in my serial number and product key. I selected download all, and it did... But I think it only downloaded mental ray. In the c: drive program files folder in the autodesk folder, there is only a mentalrayForMaya2015 folder. There is no Maya2015 folder. So i checked the installer again and when it loaded up it says i have both maya and mentalray installed. But ive searched my computer for maya data and i cant find anything.

Update, I went into the autodesk folder in the C drive and found another setup system for maya, i used it and i *think* it installed maya properly. Now my problem is when i try to launch maya, it checks for licenses and doesnt find them. That i dont know how to fix. ive attached a picture of the error. since then ive tried to use the manager to reinstall maya, but no luck.
