Not Installing on Microsoft Surface Pro

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have a surface pro and every time I try to install Meshmixer I get "error opening file for writing" There are a number of files that I can skip through but when the install finished Meshmixer is not functional.  Have tried multiple times to uninstall and reinstall as well as deleting the files that were there from the previous failed installs.

I am running a Surface Pro i7 16 GB of RAM. I was able to install this on my Lenovo but for some reason, I keep getting an error on my Surface Pro. I had a previous Surface Pro that had the same issues.

Hello @Anonymous ,

This is a operating system error due to inaccessibility to write to the file.

Please take a look at the link provided for more information.

Also make sure you installing the proper version of Meshmixer.

Are you running as admin and how much internal storage do you have...

Ran as admin and it worked just fine. Thank you!

I'm also getting the same error but running as admin doesn't solve the issue for me.

Seems to be something with the libraries, as \meshmixer\libraries\default_brusher\default.png is the first thing that pops up, I can ignore but then there's just more than keep coming after every ignore click I do.

Might be a language/character error

Ok i figured it out.

I skipped every error during setup so it managed to install it anyway. While opening the program an error occurred:

"Not able to read from Documents.." or something like this

Then I remembered somebody in another forum said he had problems with this folder permissions, and that I always re-path this kind of folder when I install windows to a bigger disk, that now I have Unplugged..

So I restored the original path (e.g. right click on Documents at the left-side panel on Explorer > Properties > Location -may differ since I have spanish OS-). I allowed creation for any non-existing folder, and now it works fine.

Hope it helps or at least it helps you find your own workaround.
