Network License Not Available

I have this somewhat intermittent problem with our network license. After changing things on my computer and restarting, the license becomes unavailable. LMTools says it is not in use even after stopping and restarting the LM server. The events that have cause this to happen after a restart have been; updated BIOS, uninstalled old printer and installed new one, and most recently today, I was playing with creating a linetype in AutoCAD.

The license becomes available to me after some amount of time, at least an hour or so. It appears to be available on a different computer but this has not been tested fully, yet.

We are a very small firm without any real IT support. Only the one network license.

We are at a loss as to what might be the problem. We've tried a number of things to make it available including the restarting the network server and the license server. Nothing seems to work except waiting for it.

I've got a feeling it's a network issue but I'd like to rule out local and/or Autodesk settings that may be interfering with this before bringing in our IT consultant to trouble shoot because he doesn't know about Autodesk network configurations.

Edit: Images added for clarity.

Can you check this registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FLEXlm License Manager

What is there?  Do you see this entry "ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE" there?

try the firewall option first

Does it point directly to your license server or is there other information listed there.  Just wondering how much info is for that registry value.  Too much info can lead to odd situations.

I don't know for sure. Does this look right?

Go that folder location as specified in that registry value and look for a licpath.lic file.   Open it up..  Is there just a server name there? Or an IP address of that server as well?

Outside of the info @DarrenP  passed along to you..

You may want to change that registry value to @<IP address of license server>;@<server name> instead of the path to that given folder.  Or something like this

I will try in the morning but I'm not sure how to test.

Could you please explain how that might help? I have an idea but I'd like to hear it from you.

Thanks!

When I left for the day yesterday, the license was available. Today, before making the registry edit, it was not available which is unusual. This normally doesn't happen unless there has been a change to my computer.

At first I thought, "Great, here's the chance to test your suggestion."

Made the changes and still no license. I'm not sure if I did it correctly. I did get the IP addresses and name of my server in there. Is that a semicolon between the addresses?

Yes a semi-colon is needed.   Are you still getting 15.570 error still or something else?   Perhaps you will want to share the debug log file as specified on the config services tab of LMTOOLS.   However if you don't want to share it on this forum you can private message me and we can go from there.

Thanks for all your help, Mark. I think I've got the issue resolved but only time will tell.

I went through the steps in this AKN article. Option 5 got me back on track.
