Maya student error 2

Hi, so I came back to Maya to try make an animation for a university project and it gave me this error: License was not obtained Tried Maya 2016 (65H1 2016.0.0.F),error 2 License method: environment variable MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD='standalone' Product choice: environment variable MAYA_LICENSE='unlimited' License file override: environment variable MAYA_ALT_EN is not set] I'm using a student license and this problem extends to at least Maya 2014-16, Mudbox 2014 & 2015 and 3ds Max 2015 & 2016. I've reinstalled several times didn't work though. Is it possible that my student license has expired or something? I really need it to work and I would very much appreciate any help.

WHY DO we have to go through this!!!!! THis is the most annoying thing I've EVER experinced using this program. Is there anyway I can just get a version of 2009 max? Anything will be easier than going through the troubleshooting provided.
