Maya quits installation setup without any error

Anonymous
Not applicable

I tried installing Maya, through the Install Now, Download Now and Browser Download options but the setup just crashes when the splash screen shows up after saying "Initializing". I have tried installing Maya 2018 and Maya 2019. I have a student license so I am not sure if that is a problem. I also had 3Ds MAX originally installed but I have uninstalled it since then.

When I try to open the Setup.exe file it just closes out after it says Initializing, it was downloading something (204MB) but then it crashed like usual. A folder by the name "WI" was created in the directory that I had it extracted it to. When I deleted the WI folder it downloaded the 204MB files again but then crashed and kept crashing without downloading anything until I deleted the WI folder again.

I am running the setup as Administrator and all the permissions are enabled for Administrators (Except Special permissions which I don't seem to be able to change). I have also tried disabling AntiVirus, updated all my display drivers as well as windows.

I have attached what seemed to be the install logs (They were created the same time I tried to install Maya, at 21:10) from the %temp% folder.

I would really appreciate some help, I am starting out with 3D.

Thanks in advance!

Never use the install now option...  😁   When you do the browser download or download now, it is failing on the extraction of the software or the actual software installation?

Hi@chetanverma19,

Thanks for your feedback.

I think the download itself is not happen.

Please check the pop up blockers or something else preventing the downloading the product.

Do you have all the permissions to download the product?

Could you please send me the download folder screenshot?

Could you please try to delete the downloaded files and then try to download and install?

Regards,

Srinivas.

The download completes fine. At least it appears to be. I have no ad-blockers etc. and I have downloaded the files several times now.

The installation fails. It just shows the splash screen with an Initializing bar at the bottom but just closes out during that and the Send Error Report window pops up

Have you run the installation as a administrator account?

Does your machine and graphics card meet the requirements?

Do you have enough free disk space?

1. Optional Step: You may want to confirm your current hardware will run the Autodesk product you're trying to install.  Check your hardware using the Autodesk Pre-Requisite Checker.

2.  Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder.  You will not be able to delete all the files and folders located here, but delete as many as possible and skip those files/folders that are unable to be removed.

3.  Ensure that you have full admin rights to your machine.

4.  If permitted, temporary set your Windows UAC to never notify.

5  If allowed, disable/pause your Anti-Virus/Malware scanning utilities

6.  If possible, use a hard wired/cable connection (to your router/internet) for the download process.

Are you running the setup.exe from the C:\Autodesk\Maya folder?

The prerequisite checker is also giving me the same error...

The first time the setup runs on its own, but after it fails I run it using the setup.exe file

I would recommend that you run Windows updates and make sure you have all the crucial Window updates applied and installed correctly.   Based on what I seeing from your replies, it sounds like an issue with the Windows OS.   Have you tried creating another Windows account with admin rights and installing it that way.

I made another User and tried installing using the Setup.exe file. It still didn't work.

I checked and there was update, I installed the update but it still did not work.

After the update, I tried installing the other user again but it still did not work.

Hey, I have tried almost everything but it still does not work. Is there anything else I can provide that might help you find a solution?

Sorry running out of ideas...   There's nothing in the log file you provided since its ending before any logged info.  Did I ask you to check your Windows Event logs?  If not review that for errors or warnings..

I have managed to install Maya 2016, is there any way for me to update it to 2019 within the software?

Maya 2016 is retired and no longer supported..   😁

But to answer your question..  No..   Each version is installed separately.

A few more users this weekend have reported the same or seeing a crash report from the installation.   Here's a couple more things I thought of..

TPerhaps you will want to run a registry cleaner like CCleaner (https://www.ccleaner.com/).   But its at your own risk and you should back up your registry prior to doing this.

Did netframe 4.8 get installed?  Make sure 4.8 is not installed.  Check your version here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/how-to-determine-which-versions-ar...
