So my daughter is taking an animation course in school, and I downloaded a Student Version of Maya 2016 on a MacBook. Program installed and seemed to work fine...
I created an account with www.autodesk.com and obtained a License and Serial number, and Product Key. I input all these into the appropriate boxes in the Maya Installer... and voila... apparently life was good.
Except that a week later, the installation would try to open, provide a license error and fail hard. With no ability to open a box, or alter any of the license details. etc. So... uninstalled.
Reinstalled. It reinstalled fine.... opened it up... About-Maya. Product Registration.... it has my serial and my key.. and down below it has a button called ACTIVATE. So... I thought... hey... maybe it wasn't ever ACTIVATED. So I press that. But there is no response. A little pop up comes and says, "Product Activation in progress..." it goes away.... and nothing ever happens. I wait and open that window again... but the Activate button isn't greyed out... ( as if it knows its been activated... ) so I presume it still isn't.
Website acknowledges I have a valid student license.... but I'm afraid she's going to start working in it... it will lock up... lose the work... and I'll have to reinstall and install again...
Help.
Thanks,
AW
