1. Download Autodesk Licensing Service 10.1.1.66.tar installer file.
2. Extract the downloaded file.
   • Terminal: Navigate to the folder containing the TAR file and enter the following command: tar -zxvf AdskLicensingInstaller-10.1.1.66.tar
   • Finder: Navigate to the folder containing the TAR file and double-click the compressed TAR file you downloaded.
3. After you extract the file, do one of the following: Use the following command to install the extracted PKG file
   • On the command line, enter the following command to install the extracted PKG file: sudo installer -pkg /path/to/AdskLicensing-10.1.1.66-mac-installer.pkg -target /
   • Double-click the AdskLicensing-10.1.1.66-mac-installer.pkg file and follow the instructions

I am not sure what license type you have, but there has been a licensing service enhancement called automatic SSO (single sign-on) for subscription customers with single-user access made to 2020 & later versions. Customers on maintenance plans with single-user access need to be online to activate with a serial number. You no longer have to activate newer versions of Autodesk products, they are activated online automatically. 

1. Be sure to sign-in as Administrator, verify permissions on your Mac  & also review setting permissions 
2. Temporarily disable security settings on a Mac
3. Adjust your Proxy Settings
4. Please sign into your Autodesk Account, install all product updates including the latest Autodesk Licensing Service Updates (for 2020 versions & later). Then restart the computer and test the product.

When I manually licensed the installation 001M1 is the prod key I used but when I list the licensing info...it shows 777M1 the license key for the single stand alone license vs the 150 seat count license...

When I was experiencing this with Autocad 2020 this was the same type of result.

Just an update using the CLI with 777M1 vs 001M1 seemed to work...

There is no need to manually activate newer versions of Autodesk products. They are activated online automatically, so a good internet connection is required. Just start your product and follow the instructions for signing in or entering a serial number.

It is required that you activate online, "Autodesk no longer supports offline activation for 2021 products and later". You need an activation code only if you have a stand-alone perpetual license or a stand-alone education license (student or educator) and no Internet access.

We have a standalone education license... So we need the offline

I believe you may have misunderstood. You need an activation code only if you have no internet access & a stand-alone perpetual license or a stand-alone education license (student or educator). If you are eligible & do not have internet access you can request an activation code here.

If you have Internet access, just start your product and follow the instructions for signing in or entering a serial number. There is no need to request an activation code (manually activate) newer versions of Autodesk products. They are activated online automatically, you just need a good internet connection.

Maybe I am not clearly explaining the scenario. I am trying to prepare AutoCad 2021 for a computer lab. The user ( student, faculty) will go into the lab sit down open and open AutoCad 2021. For this environment to work like expected the copy of AutoCad 2021 must be activated prior to the launching of the application. The same process works for Maya 2020 and MudBox 2020. But this process does not work for AutoCad 2020 or AutoCad 2021. I should be able to pre-activate the installation before anyone uses it. The commands I have put in this forum work for the other products I mentioned earlier. These devices have internet access but if I leave them as you have suggested the student / faculty would have to log into the Autodesk product ( some if not most of these users do not have Autodesk accounts). Please advise.

Hi Thomas I had the same problem as you did. Trying to Register AutoCAD 2021 requires the --cf flag to have path of the autocad config.pit file however I have failed to locate this file, even Autodesk support has no clue what to do about that flag. I installed AutoCAD 2021 manually and performed a search for it to no avail. However if you run 

AdskLicensingInstHelper change rather than AdskLicensingInstHelper register, then you can get away with it as it is not a requirement for change. So the way I went about it is to use a script that installs which will help you and also licenses it. If you need then you can simply append the AdskLicensingInstHelper change and that will fix your problems. The script is here below which I got from jamfnation.com. If you run this script and make the changes as required for your environment and then at the end run the change this should work for you...
