License transfer without old computer

My old computer died. I built a new one. When I tried to re-install AutoCad2012 (Student version) it failed. I read support site and it says I need to have AutoCad on both old and new systems to transfer the license. How can I do that if the old one burned up? I've been looking all over Autodesk site for an answer without success. HELP!!

Inserted disc. AutoCad screen said "Determining Install Requirements". Then I clicked "I Accept". Screen then asked for Serial number and Product key which I entered off the disc container and triple checked. Then I clicked on "Install" for both AutoCad2012 and the Inventor plug-in. The system started to load and then I got the "FAILED" notice...Screen shot attached.

Hi @Anonymous

Welcome to the Community and thank you for providing the details.

Could you check and try out the suggested solutions from the Autodesk Solutions below?

2012 suite install fails

Error: "Install complete. Some Products Failed to Install"

Kindly let us know if you are now able to install the software. Do ensure that you temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall before trying to install the software again.

Thanks,

Jeffery & Darren,

Thanks for suggestions!!

I will look into both sometime today , or tonight and advise ofthe results.

As a quick note, according to the Setup.log, it appears the error is when loading .NET. I will follow the above suggestions/directions and see if that corrects problem.

Ok, I uninstalled the AutoDesk/Autocad, .NET Framework, and C++ Redistributable files. I turned off all anti-virus and Firewall protection. Then I ran Setup.

The frist 10 steps seemed to load ok. It started at 7:10pm. When it showed 5 of 15 loading (AutoCad2012) at 7:30 the install then reversed and when it go to 14 of 15, I again got the error mentioned above.

This is a LEGAL Student version running on a Windows 7 Home Premium x64, SP1, 16GB RAM, X99-A MOBO with a i7-5820K Processor.

I don't know what the problem is.I am attaching the Setuo Log file, but don't really understand them. I also have an Install Log and a Content Service Log (I couldn't attach more than one) I had this software on another computer that died. I built the this new one and don't know if the licensing is the cause. I did read that both systems have to be up and running to transfer the license. ANY and all help greatly appreciated!!

In checking the Install.Log file, I found the following "FAIL" references.

Failed to open the file:F:\x64\acad\acad.cab for computing its hash. Error:2
MSI (s) (08:FC) [19:29:03:068]: SECUREREPAIR: Failed to CreateContentHash of the file: acad.cab: for computing its hash. Error: 2
MSI (s) (08:FC) [19:29:03:068]: Transforming table Property.

MSI (s) (08:FC) [19:29:03:068]: Transforming table Property.

I'm not that up of these logs, but I am assuming AutoCad says the file that failed to open on drive F: might be the cause of the failure. How do I change where AutoCad looks because I do not have a drive F:.

Ok, read DarrenP's response and yours. Tried both. Neither worked. Here's synopsis of latest...

I checked all suggested resolutions and made corrections. After I removed .NET 4.5.1 I tried again. Prior, I got almost immediate errors. After removal, install worked up until about the end of insalling module for AutoCad2012. Install then seemed to reverse from AutoCad 2012 to Consent Service, then Material Library low resolution, the Material Library, etc. The install slide bar showed about 5/8th installed at reversal. The error listed this time was 1619.

I did everything suggested. After removing .NET 4.5.1, install seemed to work... Then about 5/8th of the way on install slider, the whole thing seemed to reverse to beginning of install. The install failed with error 1619 this time. I'm starting to wonder if another CAD program would be MUCH easier!!!
