Laptop freezes after 3ds max 2017 splash screen

Hi, I'm currently using 3ds Max 2017 on a laptop with:

  • GTX 760m (latest drivers)
  • Intel i7 4702MQ
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Windows 10

I've already reinstalled it and repaired it, tried launching it as an admin, and tried the "sfc /scannow" command.

Is there any way to make 3ds max work again?

more info needed what did you do when you last used max. when did you last use it, do you get any error messages, if you got an error did you report it to autodesk? have you called up you're local autodesk dealer where you brought 3ds max from they would be able to give you some tech support.

You say you canot get past the splash screen have you updated max, with the lastest hotfix and service pack?

did you get the error report page? when it crashes. If you did write down the code in your reply on here an autodesk empolyee can lookup the code and give you an answer.

Hi so the last time it worked was after I tried to delete the ENU folder in AppData/Autodesk
But after that time, it started freezing again.
There is no error code though because the problem is that my whole computer freezes, and becomes completely unresponsive. I can't even hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and my cursor won't move so that only way I can continue using my computer is by forcing it to shutdown (by that I lean holding the power button until it turns off)
Also, I have a student edition, which prevents me from contacting support since I apparently need a subscription for that. Would you know any alternative number to call?

If you have a student version then i doubt there is anything you can do! if you have to forcefully shut down your computer sounds like that is a windows problem, you would need to formatted your HD and reinstall windows.

You would first need to backup all your data and have a copy of the windows cd/dvd This is a easy procress there are tons of youtube videos out there. it takes about a hour to an hour and a half. if your not sure how to do this and you have no experince in formatting your computer i wouldn't attempt it i would take it to the nearest computer store, but this is cost you money!

But since this happens only with 3ds max, are you sure that it is Windows related?
And would a simple refresh suffice then? (I have my programs installed on a different HD, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle)

if you have reinstalled max a number of time as you said then it's gonna be a problem with windows, and  in your words you say it's a problem with the whole computer and "you have forcefully shut down your computer" and this is a windows problem,

it could be windows 10 a lot of ppl are having a problem with windows 10 because i don't think it's been properly tested some ppl have problems and some ppl don't

@Alfred.DeFlaminis please help i have done the best i can as your the tech support specialist here you can give more advice on this problem
