KNOW what proccesses are needed before ending them in task manager

I unwittingly disabled my Chromium host Executable not realizing that was needed for my Chromium Host app, I think it may have affected the license registry, when I try to fire up 3DSMAX 2018 it blinks momentarily, then disappears not initializing, I put an ~ sign in front of the acwebbrowser.exe because I saw an alarming amount of its propagation in the task manager, copied the original else where just in case, but when I went to check on it my change didn`t take affect, the .exe was still named properly, so i rebooted, and it still wouldn`t initialize, on line help hasn`t been useful, thanks for your time.

You did not yet indicate what Autodesk should do to make this right.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

"You did not yet indicate what Autodesk should do to make this right."  Who is this person you're referring to?

And why would you be messing around with processes that you don't even know what they are used for?

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting.

Yes, Chromium host executables or "AcWebBrowser.exe" are needed to help run Autodesk applications. Please try a uninstall & reinstall to see if this will help correct the issue.

  1. Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the previous installation & use the MSfixitTool to complete it
  2. Reboot the computer, make sure apps are not auto running in the background
  3. Log in as Administrator (check your permissions, full control) or create a new profile
  4. Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter (Windows)
  5. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system
  6. Then, install the application again from the installation media files or try using the Browser Download Method in your Autodesk Account

Keep us posted.

Please "Accept Solution" if a reply or replies have helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.
