inventor 2017 student license

So today I uninstalled Inventor pro 2016 and installed Inventor pro 2017 from the virtual assistant. I opened Inventor and forgot that you need a serial number to activate, so I logged into autodesk on my web browser and went to account management, then went to my list of products, then to Inventor, but the only serial number i have on there is for the 2016 version. I have a student license and I'm wondering how to get an Inventor 2017 serial number.

Hi @Anonymous

You don't have Inventor 2017 yet and you will need to get it from Education Community. Please download Inventor Professional 2017 and you will receive your student serial number for it.

Will I still get the serial number if it fails to download? That's why I've been using the virtual assistant.

You need to log in (per the link @lynn_zhang sent you) and request that version in order for you to be issued a serial #.  You don't have to download it from there and/or your Autodesk Account.  The actual serial # will appear in your Autodesk Account.
