Invalid Serial Number AutoCad 2017 Student Version

Hi,

I have recently downloaded the AutoCAD 2017 Student version and have an issue with the product license activation.

The error is "The serial number you have entered is not valid. Try again."

My 30 days is now up so i am unable to open the software.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like you're getting an "Invalid Serial Number” message or having trouble with your product key while trying to register and activate your Autodesk software. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

If you’re having an issue with your product key, please make sure that you are using the correct one for your product (especially if your product comes from a suite). Finally, you should type then numbers and letters in. We do not recommend copy/paste.

Are you using the serial # that was issued for you under your Educational account?   Did you actual request the 2017 version of AutoCAD?  What does your Autodesk Account say?  Don't post any personal information here...

You may have to contact the Educational Support Team to get it resolved if the serial # is for AutoCAD 2017 and it doesn't work.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply.

My college simply advised to independently download the 2017 version on my personal laptop so its not tied to any educational account - except the use of my college email address.

My tutor had advised to download an earlier version of the software to try and solve the problem but the serial number issued is the same with the same error message of being invalid.

I keep seeing links on why your serial number might be invalid but there does not seem to be a solution that i can independently solve.

I have also downloaded the latest student Revit version without any issues.

At a bit of a loss for a correct solution.

Go into your Autodesk Account, take a screen shot showing what you have and then blur out all serial #s before posting.  I want to see what you see in your Autodesk Account for the products you have requested for Educational.

Also as a reminder each Autodesk Product and Version has its own serial # and product key.  You can't just download one version and expect a serial # from another version to work for it.

If you have an educational access to free software you should have 3yrs of access. Is the message is telling you its a trial, expired or need to connect to the internet? A 30day message will come up in these cases. If you do not have an educational account please refer to the information below: 

How to get Educational Software

• If, you are eligible for Educational Software Create an Account you have access to free software for 3 yrs
• Your Autodesk Account will provide you with an email containing your Serial# or you should receive the Serial # and information in your account within 24hrs.
• An internet connection is required to sign in and activate, every 30days you should be connected to the internet at some point (to verify your license & use the software)
