Installation of Vault 2023 fails on machine with existing Vault 2022

I'm trying to install Vault Basic 2023 on a machine that has a working Vault 2022.  I downloaded the Vault package so that I could do a local install, not the web version.

When I start the setup program, it crashes after a moment.  The error is "access violation".  Anybody have any ideas?

Share a screenshot if possible of the error.

From there:

Try emptying the %temp% folder

Run the Microsoft Fixit Tool:

From there make sure you have Admin rights and try installing it again.

It's been a while, so hopefully I remember what I did.

When you start the Vault 2022 installation, it copies the installation to a folder and installs from there.  Vault 2023 does the same thing, but it looks at the previous installation folder and fails, probably something to do with the previous version.  Delete that previous installation folder, then you can install Vault 2023.

I'm pretty sure it's under C:\Users\"admin user"\Appdata\Local\Autodesk........Sorry, can't remember further than that.
