Install Error

No matter how many times i have tried to install//fix Autocad 2017 it doesnt work. 

It gets a little bit into the installation then has an issue with my c++ redistribution files and aborts.

i have tried every so called "solution" your support pages have offered.

This problem has been going on for 6+ months now and i need to use it for my uni course.

help!!!!

@Anonymous hello, clear all the files in your temp folder in c drive those cannot delete just skip. you can try to check it HERE. hope it helps. thanks

Hi Owen, 

The "love / hate" relationship between man and machine or in this case, technology continues. I can almost promise you it will be something so small or something which might have been overlooked. 

I hope that I can help you through this process, I'm going to refer you to 3x threads where I created posts yesterday, all referring to the same issue. 

One of our draughtsman actually had the same problem when it was his turn to upgrade and I managed to rectify it after following the steps outlined in the threads below:

If you already followed these threads, as you mentioned that you already searched the forums for a solution, then, please provide the following: 

 - Current OS

 - Version of AutoCAD 2017 which you're trying to install (32 / 64-bit, is it LT?)

 - Possible Error Log?

Welcome to the community...

Without your installation log file we can only speculate what the issue is.  However I will assume its based on the method you're using, so

Download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent (http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&startContext=Root.Front%20Desk) and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

Good luck on your installation.

But if that doesn't resolve your issue then you need to provide us with your installation log file.

Hi @Anonymous,

Ok, so here are a couple of additional things which you could try, but let's start fresh with a to CLEAN UNINSTALL AutoCAD and the also remove .NET and C++ libraries and then reinstall them again followed by reinstalling AutoCAD. 

Pre-Installation/Extraction: (SIMPLE PROBLEMS WHICH CAN BE OVERLOOKED)

• Downloading files from VIRTUAL AGENT will be your best option, start fresh, so re-visit Virtual Agent and Download the Version which you require. 
• Make sure that you put the source installation files to be extracted/setup files in your root drive e.g. - C:\ (By default)
• Windows sometimes cannot manage to install some components like vcredist or ADSK material library once trying to install from other root drives.
• Make sure that run everything as administrator or with administrative rights. To be sure that you are, right-click and select the "Run as Administrator". 

Windows Related: (POSSIBLE ISSUES)

Are you running Windows 10? Assuming you are, then the C++ files which need to be removed and re-installed can be found HERE

The Windows 10 Anniversary edition updates introduced other issues. So if the C++ files do not resolve your issue, you could also try:

 - Roll back the Windows 10 update. How to do this is explained HERE

STEPS TO FOLLOW NOW: (BREAKDOWN)

Clean uninstall AutoCAD >> Remove .NET & C ++  and re-install >> Virtual Agent, clean download >> Copy Files to correct main drive root (C:\) >> Run Extraction/Setup as Admin >> If prompted with C++ Errors and running on Windows 10, follow Rollback or C++ link for Windows 10.

Just to make sure, had you read my initial post? I have already tried the
c++ reinstall method. This did not work.
Also the post you are relying to is my response to the virtual agent method
not working.

Yes I do have windows 10. As far I know it isn't the anniversary edition.
Any other ideas

Yes, I did read you original post regarding C++ etc. Have you tried a Clean Uninstall followed by a Clean C++ uninstall and re-install, THEN >> Disk Cleanup C:\ drive and temp files etc. >> Then using the version which you downloaded from VA, copy it to your root drive, then extracting everything with admin rights. In that exact order? As I mentioned, it might be something so small sometimes, sequences can be important.

Before doing the above-mentioned, RollBack your Windows 10, then do the above-mentioned. I know it is tedious and time-consuming to repeat the steps, but you mentioned that you require it for studies, so if it works you'll owe me a beer! haha

Hi Owen, 

What about trying to CLEAN INSTALL WINDOWS 10 ? Something obviously went seriously wrong with the Anniversary Update. And it is sometimes difficult to pin-point the exact problem if I'm not in front of the faulty PC. You'll still be able to run Windows 10, but remember not to run updates after the clean install up to the Anniversary Update, until Windows resolved some of the issues/bugs. 

I'm not sure how much data or pre-installed applications you might have on your laptop, but at least doing it this way, you won't need to pay for Windows 8 and this will mean that you start with a fresh copy of Windows 10, which did not give you any issues in the beginning with Autodesk Applications...
