Hi there, I am running into a persistent issue while trying to install AutoCad 2027 with Education licensing on entra-joined machines. I have been working with AutoDesk support for a few weeks but they have closed the case and asked me to try on the forums instead.
My goal: install AutoDesk 2027 with Education licensing on an Entra joined device with no entra user id bound. These devices are being shared by students in a school.
I’ve followed Autodesk’s recommended remediation steps (ODIS reset, Identity cleanup, local install path, disabling security controls), but I’m still seeing consistent failures.
If anyone has:
- Seen similar behaviour on Entra-only or shared devices
- Identified the cause of the LogAnalyzer crash
- Found a reliable deployment method
Details:
- Device: HP EliteBook x360 1040 G8
- Operating system: WindowsOperating system version: 10.0.26100.8390Operating system language: en-USOperating system edition: ProOperating system SKU: Windows 10/11 Professional (48)
- Join type: Entra-joined only
- Install context: Local administrator account
- Tested with & wiped between:
- LAPS account while on Guest Mode
- Local account in the administrator group
I have followed troubleshooting articles provided by support and have gotten to two different failure points:
1. Installer reaches ~70–80% then rolls back
Autodesk installer launches (grey install screen)
Progress reaches around 70–80%
Installer then rolls back
Final result: Error 1
2. Installer crashes before full UI loads
White Autodesk installer window shows: “Preparing for installation”
Installer closes/crashes without progressing further
During the failed install attempts, Windows Application logs consistently show a crash within the Autodesk installer (ODIS):
Primary crash:
Faulting application name: LogAnalyzer.exe Path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AdODIS\V1\Setup\LogAnalyzer.exe Exception code: 0xc0000409 Event ID: 1000 (Application Error)
Windows Error Reporting entry:
Event Name: BEX64 Application: LogAnalyzer.exe Exception Code: c0000409
I can also see that the product is removed after the install fails
Product: Autodesk CER -- Installation completed successfully. Product: Autodesk CER -- Removal completed successfully. Windows Installer removed the product.
There is also an entry indicating the system flagged a restart condition during install but nothing is prompted in the UI
Machine restart is required.
I have been at this for a couple of months now, this is the troubleshooting I have tried as supplied by AutoDesk support:
System Troubleshooting
- Rebuilt device multiple times - tried different admin accounts such as LAPS and also using custom ora uri to create a local admin account on the machine during autopilot deployment
- Confirmed no pending Windows updates
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables
- Installed Autodesk Licensing Service separately
- Downloaded fresh installers multiple times
- Extracted installer to local path instead of downloads folder:C:\AutodeskInstall
- Confirmed admin account had security access to read/write in C drive
- Not running from OneDrive/SharePoint
Security:
- Disabled:
- Microsoft Defender placed in troubleshooting mode (including endpoint protection)
- Web filtering
- No VPN in use
- Same network successfully installs AutoCAD on hybrid-joined devices
Other info:
- Installation has worked on hybrid-joined devices using the same network & hardware
- Fails consistently on Entra-only devices
- Installer behaviour is inconsistent:
- Either crashes early, or rolls back at ~70–80%
- Logs consistently point to a crash in:
- AdODIS\V1\Setup\LogAnalyzer.exe
- At least part of the install chain succeeds before rollback (CER component)
- No obvious network or certificate issues
- Expired Trusted CertificatesThese are updating fine
