Having some problems getting students connected.

As a teacher I am trying to provide my students with access to AutoCAD and other Autodesk applications. I have had difficulty with AutoCAD Web and Fusion 360. AutoCAD Web is requiring me to subscribe to edit files. Getting Fusion 360 seems to be a rather complicated process. I rather use it over Inventor but students are just quitting before they can really get started. I like the AutoDesk Application log in. That seems to at least tie everything together. Any suggestions on the ladder?

@bjeary

Welcome to the Autodesk community.

In order for a student to use AutoCAD Mobile they must request full AutoCAD https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/autocad   Have they done that?

What is the issue for Fusion 360?

Where are you located?  I know odd question but in certain areas, students, schools, and teachers must be verified.  In addition what type of school is this?

Hi @bjeary

Students can easily set up a new Education Account to use with Fusion 360 (or just sign in with their existing Student account) here: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/students-teachers-educators

Once done, Fusion 360 will appear in their Autodesk Account:

Then they can download it, install it and finally access it with their Autodesk Account.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have directed my students to first fill out the Autodesk application, and then apply for the full AutoCAD license. My students live in a rural and rather poor area in North Rose New York. Many students can only use CAD through their Chromebooks.  I thought having AutoCAD Web might be helpful because our district may not allow installation of a product on their Chromebooks. I could not fully access this as an educator. I do not want to share with students until I get it figured out.

As for Fusion 360, the only way I know how to use it is to have students sign up for a trial period, the a 3 year student subscription once the trial has ended. I currently have a student who is now locked out of Fusion and his files since the trial has now ended. I wish I could find an easier way.

Hello @bjeary

Thank you for participating in Answer Day! 😊

I would like to clarify & add more information to this thread with the latest information we have regarding the AutoCAD Web app.

The Autodesk Extended Access Program provides all commands and tools in the AutoCAD web app to everyone including students. Typically, the commands and tools in the AutoCAD web app are only available to AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT subscribers and are not available to students.

This program also enabled Google Drive support in AutoCAD web today & is supported on the latest Google Chrome web browser version on Chromebooks.

To set up your students with Autodesk Account's & to access student software please review the "Steps for Setting-Up Student Software".

Here are some additional resources:

Extended Access Program: AutoCAD web app Questions and Answers

What if a current student has an existing account?  When I try to "Get Started" with the products I need (via the Education tab) it asks me to SIGN IN and when I do it loops me back to the Education>Products page and then gives me an error:  Apologies for the delay / Open a private window or incognito window and try again.

I have done this... same result

I have restarted my computer... same result

I have tried MICROSOFT EDGE instead of CHROME... same result

Is there something I am missing?

I am also having the same problem. I have a paid AutoCad subscription, and cannot get an educational version of Revit. Keeps looping me back to the ‘get started’ page. I have been waiting for a response from “support” for almost 5 days.
