FLEXnet Licensing error

I have downloaded and installed the latest edition v11.13.1.2 Build 173302 x64_n6 on 3 brand new servers running Window 2012 R2. Installed using default suggested path and then started LMTOOLS to create a new service. When i am finished i click "Save Service" and get an error message.

Same to mine:

Is there a solution for the problem?

Thank you Georg

Hello GeorgK

It looks like you are seeing "Error 15" when registering and activating software or using the Portable License Utility. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Hello Otto,

I opened the firewall. The error stays. It´s a network license.

FYI: "Otto" is a bot. It won't respond.

I seem to recall that error message and moving on. Do you know if it's actually not working?

Have you tested it like this?

The server is responding on port 27000. The only thing which is not working is the "Configuration using Services".

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome back. Smiley Happy

This error is associated with a permissions problem with the debug.log file or an issue with the installation of LMtools. Take a look at, Update DACL failed when saving service within LMTOOLS

Let us know if you end up resolving this. Thank you.

Hello @natasha.l,

this does not solve the problem. I saw this post

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/lmtools-fail-to-set-dacl-on-new-service/td-p/6...

There is a problem with the license manager v11.13.1.2 under Windows 2012R2. But the solution does not work on my side.

FYI @natasha.l - I have received this same error on the last 2 or 3 installs that I have performed of the NLM, and there has not been a problem at all. They all work just fine afterwards with no action taken. Posts #8 and #30 in this thread indicate that this message can be ignored (in some cases I suppose).

There are also many other suggestions in this same forum thread, in case you have not seen this @GeorgK

Yes, this is correct this error does not have to do with your Autodesk service in LMtools. This issue is a non-Autodesk issue & has been reported to have no effect on the License Manager serving Autodesk products, if the proper permissions have been adjusted & everything is set up properly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello @Anonymous,

Have you tried to ignore the message? Or check the other services running on the server or license manager?

You can also "ignore" the issue by following the steps below:

  1. Click Ok on the dialog box.
  2. Click Save again.

This time you will not receive the error message.

  1. Go to the Start/Stop/Reread tab
  2. Click Start Server
  3. Verify you have licenses by clicking "Perform Status Enquiry" on the "Server Status" tab.

Thanks @natasha.l - perhaps you can inform the author(s) of the aforementioned KB article so that it can be removed or edited to state what you said above.

In most cases when this occurs..  Selecting save (saving the service again) as @natasha.l pointed out corrects the issue.  But when it doesn't the other articles/work flows listed come into play.  Smiley Wink

I tried to ignore the message and checked the other services running on the server or license manager.

The license is working only without the service. When I use the service then the license server does not start. It's not a problem with the rigthts. I have an admin account. I tried the different solutions from my first post. But no solution worked.

Why is the problem with the error message not beeing fixed?

Hello @Anonymous,

Can you explain further what you mean by "the license is working only without the service"?

If you can pull licenses then there is a functioning Autodesk license service running & this message is popping up for some other reason. I will escalate this post for you & a support technician will be with you soon.

Thank you.

Hello @natasha.l,

you can start the licenseserver with or without the service. See number 4:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/network-license-administration/install-and-configure...

The licenseserver works on my side without the service. The service is created but could not be started. I delete the service and did uninstalled the licenseserver. With a new installation the error occurs again. No change!
