Error when Installing AutoCAD 2015: 1402 Error

Hi Guys,

I'm upgrading AutoCAD to 2015 from 2013 for a client

Whilst compelting process 10/18 i receive this error

Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Classes\Interface\{BEF6E003-A874-101A-8BBA-00AA00300CAB}\ProxyStubClsid

Now before you send me off to articles I have checked permissions for that key and assigned given full owner ship for that key to the user. I have even logged in as Administrator to try and install which has not worked.

So what I did to try troubleshoot further was to rename that specific key which I did ... and still got the same Error! Weird because that key does not exsist.

I than began to read the error further more slowly and realised that it actaully says "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32" which does not exist in the registry tree.

Running 64Bit Windows!

64bit Windows doesn't tell anyone anything: is that still XP? Vista? 7? 8? 8,1?

Using Windows 7 64Bit

AutoCAD 2013 is also Installed on the System

As I stated above, I have gone through all articles relating to registry permissions.

Test more: log into Windows as a new user (with admin rights), does the problem go away?

1) Tried to install using 3-4 different users with Full Admin rights.

2) Cleared TEMP directory

3) Ensured UAC is turned OFF

4) Copied DVD to LOCAL Drive to install but failed

I and a group of students had the same problem. We've been googling but no success. Does anybody have a hint on this issue?

I'm having the same problem.  Did you find a solution?  I have also tried all the options described in the links provided in this thread. Is there a connection with the 32bit registry key vs 64 bit windows?
