Error Message - Expired license

Anonymous
Not applicable

I had a 2014 3ds Max student license. It has expired.

So I purchased a 2016 3ds Max subscription license. I've installed it and get the following error message when trying to activate:

----

Expired license
One of the following problems has occurred:

  • The serial number you entered is for a product license that has expired.
To activate this product, either use a valid serial number for a license that has not expired or obtain a new license and get a new serial number for activation.

  • You have acquired Home Use as a Subscription benefit. Your Subscription is still active, but your Home Use license has expired.

(Error 30)

------

Why is it saying my new subrscription license is expired? It should be good until February 2019.

Should I try uninstalling my old version of 3ds Max? I've contacted custom support but was told that I did not have an active license, despite paying close to $5000 for a 3 year one.

Welcome to the community and hopefully my (or someone else) reply will be beneficially to you.

This is a worldwide (public) user forum where users are assisting others.  So we have no access to your information.  I assume you are no longer a student and thus the reason why you purchased a commerical license?   When you purchased your license did you use the same email address that you did when you were a student or another one?  If so I think you have to create a new one because that email is linked to a student account and not a commerical one.

If you have the proof (email/paperwork) that you purchased the software and youcontacted Autodesk support, they have no information of this?  This seems very odd to me.  So do you have the actual proof?  Where did you purchase this software, a reseller or the on-line store.

Sorry that I'm unable to assist but we are only users here.  We don't know how you purchased it, what information you have and etc.  If you have a commerical license then you should be able to log into your Autodesk Account and submit a support case for Autodesk

Thank you a ton for trying to help me out! Really appreciate any help of any kind.

You're correct-- I am no longer a student. So I ordered a 3 year subscription. Yes I have proof and an order number. I've put in a help case to autodesk but recieved a reply to contact my reseller (Autodesk).

I did use 2 different users. One for my education download and another for my subscription license. I purchaesed thr software from Autodesk online. Literally followed the link they sent when my student edition was expiring.

Thanks for trying to help.

I probably shouldn't have used 2 different emails... probably adds to the confusion a bit.

But yeah the problem happens when I try to activate it online.

I'm confused by it too haha. I've since uninstalled max 2016 and deleted my registry to see if maybe it was reading my old product key but it didn't fix it.

I've put in 4 claims to Autodesk. 2 of them told me the license is expired (which is exactly the problem). 1 told me to contact my reseller, Autodesk. (Yes. support@Autodesk told me to contact Autodesk). The last one told me to uninstall/reinstall 3ds max and try again. He seems to be the only one not cutting/pasting responses.

I'm completely blown away by the lack of help from Autodesk. Seems like you've been the only person to try and understand my problem. Thank you. seriously. I have no idea what to do... I can't even contact Autodesk and only seem to be getting helpbot responses.

Thanks again for your response and kindness. Even if I don't solve this I know there's at least one person who tried to help. I just literally cannot believe this. I've never had this happen with any company. Is there an number I can call? Maybe I'll build a new computer and purchase an additional license. Or maybe learn a different 3d modelling package. One not from Autodesk. I'm seriously lost.

Hi @Anonymous

Sorry to hear your experience and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused! I checked your latest Case #: 11784129 and our Support Agent has provided you the license details you requested. Hope this has solved your issue.

Moving forward, you can find your license details from your Autodesk Account, but you need to log in the right account - the one you registered when you purchased the product. See Finding Your Serial Number in Autodesk Account for more information.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you have experienced. We appreciate your feedback and will address it with the support team to improve our customer service.

Thanks for your reply!

The agent said my Serial Number's expiration was the same date it was created. As of now the problem still is not fixed-- but at least I've gotten a response!

The case you referred to did not fix my issue. She just provided me with my expired serial number.

This is my current case--

IT WORKS!! HAHA YESS!!!

The problem was I had to wait for my 2014 student license to expire. Once it did that unlocked something on my computer that allowed me to activate my 2016.

THANK YOU for all the help!!
