Trying to install Civil 3D 2020 on a Win10 machine and am getting the error 1336 about can't create temp file. Currently have C3D 2019.3 installed. The ideas here did not work: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-... 

Doing a Microsoft fix-it on Windows installer did not work.

Anyone know how I can overcome this issue?

What method are  you using to install the 2020 product line?  Install now or something else?

Although not related to your current issue but have applied the latest licensing mechanism for 2020 https://synergiscadblog.com/2019/07/24/autodesk-licensing-mechanism/ before installing the 2020 product line.   Perhaps you will want to provide the installation log file so it can be reviewed.

I downloaded the Setup files using AVA, then ran Setup.exe.

I thought I replied, but I guess not. Thank you for taking time to post. The log file indicated that the error was caused trying to write to C:\Windows\Fonts. Access denied.

Error 1336. There was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to complete this installation. Folder: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\. System error code: 5

Apparently this is a Windows 10 thing, denying access to Fonts? I understand a domain administrator can access this folder? I am not sure. I ended up doing it by brute force from a local admin account. It had issues installing fonts during the installation (Ignore, repeat ad nauseum), but they weren't issues in the long run since the fonts are already installed.

On first run I had several exceptions on arx (AEC) modules, so did a Repair on the installation and it all seems to be good now.

I am not sure what the deal is. I will not describe my brute force method because someone may break their machine trying it, but it involves me taking complete control to the extent that I can of the UAC, Windows folders, policies, etc. Kinda sucks to have to do it this way. Do you know if the Fonts folder issue has come up before now?

I've done numerous installations over the years on different machines, operating systems, and in controlled environments.   I personally have never had an issue related to this..   Not saying it doesn't exist but I've never come across it in all the installations I have done.  But I always install using admin rights, Windows UAC set to not notify and disable anti-virus/malware software when I can.

I've been installing since release 14 and have never seen this either. we've got group policies and applockers administered by IT which may have something to do with it. I've had elevated privileges and successfully installed up till now, but maybe that has changed, I do not know.
