Hi,

Encounter this error "something is preventing the software from downloading. Please contact your system administrator." when running the installer.

AutoCAD_2017_English_Win_32_64bit_Trial_en-us_Setup_webinstall.exe (369K).

We run the installer using "Administrator" privilege.

Need some advice.

Thanks

This issue is caused by the method you're using to download/install the application.

Solution:

Download the software from the Autodesk Virtual Agent

  • Once there, use Download Links and navigate to the application you need to download.

NOTE: If there are multiple parts for the download, you'll need to click each part to download them, once they are downloaded double-click Part1 (which will automatically extract the remaining parts) to begin the installation.

Welcome to the community.

The web installer is a piece of ......   (you can fill in the blank Smiley Very Happy)..

Like @Darin.Green pointed out, install using the Autodesk Virtual Agent or

Download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.  Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #.  Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

I can't use the web installer, like everyone else.

When I click the links in the Autodesk Virtual Agent, I get the following;

An error occurred while processing your request.

Reference #97.5d81655f.1488196659.952c444

Something seems to be severely broken with the whole installer download system.

My fix was to download from my acount page, but using the "Download now (fastest)" from the "View All" pulldown below the blue "Install Now" button.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

There's a couple of ways to properly download and install your Autodesk product to your machine.  Please review this article and the solution it provides.

If the installation does fail using the preferred methods, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.

Posting info: Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you.  Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN".  Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file.  If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

Found it to be my firewall blocking this when connecting via the internal LAN so moved over to our 'guest' wifi and am able to download this without any issues.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone,

I am also getting the "something is preventing the software from downloading. Please contact your system administrator." error moments after running the installer for AutoCAD LT 2020 or 2021.  I've tried the following:

1) logged into my account via a web browser and downloaded the installer

2) downloaded the installer from the Autodesk Virtual Agent

3) installed and run the Autodesk Prerequisite Checker because Autodesk doesn't make clear the OS requirements for AutoCAD LT 2020/2021...of course even this software falls short of confirming whether or not my system is sufficient for AutoCAD LT 2020/2021 because it only allows me to check for compatibility with AutoCAD LT versions 2017 and earlier 🙄

4) cleaned out the temp folder as best as I can and re-run the AutoCAD LT 2020/2021 installers

5) temporarily disabled Windows UAC

6) temporarily disabled anti-virus software AND Windows firewall

Please see the attached install log...hopefully someone can identify why the software won't ultimately download.

I did all that also, disabled UAC, firewall, antivirus and even bypassed my router with same result. Used netmon and it came up with an
TLS error, ran the VS dubugger and had a memory access violation in the graphics space. Decided that I did not need it that bad so my suggestiond would be to try the configuration checker and windows updates, it may be something to do with the graphics card.

I just wanted to share how I got around the issue...

After literally nothing worked to enable me to download the installer (whether it be directly from the site via webbrowser, or via the Autodesk Virtual Agent), I went back to my work computer (where I was originally able to download and install the software successfully), put the installer on a USB key, and brought it home with me to the computer that was giving me problems.  BOOM - no more having to try and download it - just pull it off of the USB key and run the installer.  Now granted, your situation may be different than mine, and maybe you don't have another computer at your disposal that will properly download the installer...I guess in that case you're screwed.  But if you can find a computer that will accept the download without errors, then you can move the install file from that computer to the computer you were having trouble with and install it via USB key.

Please note that I have not illegally put duplicate copies of the software on multiple computers, and I certainly don't condone such activity.  I have a single user license that allows me to install the software on up to 3 computers.  hope this helps...

Hello @Anonymous,

I can assist you. If you are using a download method that is not working for you, I would try the "Browser Download"  or "Download Now" method instead.

  1. Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the previous installation & use the MSfixitTool to complete it
  2. Reboot the computer, make sure apps are not auto running in the background
  3. Log in as Administrator (check your permissions, full control) or create a new profile
  4. Make sure you have an uninterrupted high-speed connection to the internet & try adjusting your LAN  & proxy settings etc.
  5. Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter (Windows)
  6. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system
  7. Use the Browser Download Method in your Autodesk Account or via the AVA | Autodesk Virtual Agent (download all the parts)

Let us know how it goes. 😊
