Hi, I have just installed true view and it won't open.  It just stays on the screen attached all day. I have tried re-installing it with no joy.  Thanks for your help. Ross

Kill any running instances of Trueview. Then perform the following:

  1. Browse to and delete C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2017 - English
  2. Also delete C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2017 - English
  3. Open the registry editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\DWG TrueView  and delete it.
  4. Start TrueView again.

This will reset your Trueview Profile to defaults.

Thanks for your reply.  I can't find any autodesk folders in local or roaming folders.

Ok. What about the registry key?

In addition, try right-clicking the desktop icon, and choose properties. Once there, go to the Compatibility tab and enable Compatibility Mode then use the dropdown and choose Windows 7 or Vista SP1

Send me a screenshot of your Right-Click Menu when right-clicking the shortcut on the desktop.

Why do you need 2014? Please download and install the latest version from here:

Unfortunately this is the only version available on our company software centre and all external downloads are blocked. I'll try our IT people again, thanks

Hi, I finally got the new version downloaded, thanks for your help.  Its working fine but I just have a question.  Can I change the background to white and the drawings to black to be the same as the older version?  I use a snipping tool to copy drawings and don't want to be copying all the black background.

Thanks

At the big "D" icon in the upper left is the application menu.  Select the down arrow next to it and you should see at the bottom of the menu is a button called OPTIONS.

When the OPTIONS dialog appears, select the Display tab and in the middle of that dialog there will be a button called COLORS.  From there you can assign colors to the related elements.

@Mark.Lancaster is correct. The options area is identical to AutoCAD options with fewer tabs.

NOTE: Options is not shown under the application menu unless you have a document opened.
